General Discussion / Re: Looking for CCW suggestions!
« on: November 24, 2024, 09:23:03 PM »
Several mentioned a P365. Too small for me although Im sure its very light and comfortable. I prefer something in the subcompact range. A little larger but still concealable for me. Some in that category would be the HK VP9 SK, CZ P10S , Canik TP9 Elite SC. Many mentioned a glock 19 which is a tad too big for me to carry. The three I mentioned have basically the same length barrel as the sig P365 but a little longer grip.  Also a little wider so it makes it easier for me to shoot.

In the end, I would suggest picking something that is the largest you can carry while still concealing well and comfortably.

Note: of the three I mentioned the first one is the most expensive, but also very high-quality, the second and third one are more affordable options. The Canik you can get for a very good deal and it has a great trigger thats better than many more expensive guns.

General Discussion / Re: Renewing CCW
« on: October 08, 2024, 09:38:00 PM »
Im about to renew my LTC. HPD said if I already have a LTC it only cost $50 to renew it. It’s only $150 for first time applicants. Im dropping off my application to renew 2 LTC’s tomorrow. Hopefully it really is only $50 per pistol.

FML they charged me 150.00 cash and I did a renewal last month 🤔😡

This morning 0800. That day and time probably the most popular
Had 3 no shows for pistol, and had more empty on rifle side

They should make the reservation system like the public golf courses. Too many no shows and you are banned from making a reservation for like six months.

The amount of time taking to process the ccw apps is reprehensible. Isnt that kind of delay a 2A violation in of itself?  Are there any lawsuits being filed against HPD?

Legal and Activism / Re: HIFICO Donations for 10rd pistol mag lawsuit
« on: June 04, 2023, 08:08:35 AM »
Is the link still active?

A wrench got thrown into this lawsuit.  This is the Abbot vs. Lopez (formerly Shikada, Connors Hawaii Attorney Generals) lawsuit about 10rd pistol magazine capacity.  This lawsuit was filed before the Bruen ruling.  Now since HI has to prove historical tradition, they are getting help from CA historians.  This was an unforeseen expense.  So now HIFICO's attorneys have to hire their own historian to rebut what HI is trying to use to justify the mag ban as history and tradition.

With this being said, the bill is already in the thousands.

Use the link below to donate as much as you're willing to.  Even if you don't have a handgun, this lawsuit would represent another anti 2nd amendment law being struck down if we win it.  HI also tries to apply this to rifle magazines every few years.  So a win for this would mean they cannot apply it to rifles in the future.

Anything helps, even if you can only afford to donate $5; but more is better.

One can be mad at him but Hawaii chose him. This what we get. I didnt vote for him. And like many other terrible career politicians, they keep getting re elected to fOffice. We do it to ourselves as a state. We have low voter turnout and many don’t educate themselves on the candidates but rather vote on name recognition.

General Discussion / Re: How's the line at HPD?
« on: April 14, 2023, 07:48:20 PM »
My friend went on MOnday.  Took him 4 hours for his PTA.  Also he prefilled the paperwork that's on the HPD website. He had to re do all of them in person as those are not the updated forms.  Had about 8 people infront of him.

This is his first gun, so I told him "welcome to the HPD screwing you club".

I went in Tuesday to apply for a PTA. 2 people in the line. Waited about 15 mins. Then submitting the forms took less than 10. I pre filled the forms from the hpd website.  Fairly painless.

General Discussion / Re: Gun Pic or Gun Related Pix Thread

I have one. I really like it.

Here is another sight I need to try out in my endless quest for "I never met an optics device I didn't like."

This is a Primary Arms SLx 1X MOS sight, which was advertised in Recoil magazine. Doc Pake likes the price. Surprisingly, you do not need to be a paid subscriber to the magazine:

https://www.recoilweb.com/

All you need to do is join the Hawaii Public Library System (visit your local branch) and register for access to Overdrive.

https://hawaii.overdrive.com/

Guns & Ammo, as well as Field and Stream are available to digitally "borrow" for up to two weeks from the electronic library system. They have a few dated ebooks to borrow as well (e.g., 365 Guns You Must Shoot).

Just wanted to provide my 2 cents and my personal experiences:

1). I have used GUN Broker in the past.  BUT lately, when comparing CC fees, Shipping cost, and FFL Transfer fees, I have found "A" LGS that offers me the SAME price or lower.  If not in stock or incoming they have brought in what i wanted.
2). MY LGS provides Excellent Customer Service.

i Think knowing the "RETAIL" List price, and going market place will drive who you use!  And how soon you need or want the gun.

Keep Safe!

Can you share which LGS you like to use?
