You mean that our roads and bridges are socialist?
Obama's comment, in the whole, is correct. Without some structure provided by the various levels of government there would be little to build a significant business on.
The left and right don't disagree on this principle. They disagree on how it should manifest and to what degree. In the grand scale between Anarchy and Totalitarianism (or whatever you want to put at that end of the scale) they don't really disagree all that much, either.
Romney has made nearly identical comments, as well. Somehow no one screamed "Socialist! Big Government Pig!" at him when he made them.
As I said, truth and politics are nearly incompatible these days. Hype is much more common.
People in Hawaii will vote for a democrat no matter how dumb or destructive they are. Like I said, this phenominal 4th grade reading level our locals get when they graduate from high school is a big part of this. I just came from jury duty. Can you believe that 13 out of 17 jurors stated that they wish to ban ALL guns from civilians and only the military and HPD should have them?2 were for gun control and limited use by civilians and myself and one other person were for no gun control.Worst part is....all jurors were chosen from voter registration which means all voted.I would say locals....not all but a lot....are dumb. I cant say what the trial was about until its finished but you would be surprised. And for the record... I am local. My mom is hawaiian chinese, my dad hawaiian portugese. Both dedicated socialist till the day my father died and about 2 years before my mom died.Complained of restrictive gun laws but kept voting the same butt holes into office. Only difference is my mother got saved. So her last 2 years or so she voted conservative. Go figure.Keep the faith boys. I keep praying for the right to own and carry firearms never to be taken away. Stay strong guys. In the end WE WILL PREVAIL.
Be sure to let us know of updates on the confiscation issue, or all the issues we should pay attention to for this session. I will gladly support them.
Without some active intervention, I can tell you what will happen right now...the bill will die and, god forbid, if something akin to Katrina strikes us, there will be firearms seizures.
Here's a suggestion for those who think they'd like to participate in something...have someone organize a visit to Hanohano's office and ask to have her remove the poison pill and pass the bill out of committee "as is." Show up with all the folks you can muster and show her what we, as a community, can muster...again, unless "we" build up some political capital (a "show of force" in her office would garner a lot of this "political capital") any position "we" take will be dismissed or disregarded because the politicos won't see us as a threat or a force to reconed with...
A little back ground on the poison pill - the bill had a provision added to it to include Rh testing (blood typing) which, is not permitted as it had nothing to do with the title of the bill...this will effectively kill the bill. The "poison pill" was added last year as the bill passed between committees.
