SECTION 3. This Act does not affect rights and duties that
matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were
begun before its effective date.

Seems like THIS is a grandfather clause.

You mean that our roads and bridges are socialist?

Obama's comment, in the whole, is correct. Without some structure provided by the various levels of government there would be little to build a significant business on.

The left and right don't disagree on this principle. They disagree on how it should manifest and to what degree. In the grand scale between Anarchy and Totalitarianism (or whatever you want to put at that end of the scale) they don't really disagree all that much, either.

Romney has made nearly identical comments, as well. Somehow no one screamed "Socialist! Big Government Pig!" at him when he made them.

As I said, truth and politics are nearly incompatible these days. Hype is much more common.

Obamas comment is NOT correct, in any way.
The "some structure provided by the various levels of government" was paid for by the hard working taxpayer.'
'We the people' paid for the infrastructure, that the government (who works for us) built.

"Little to build a significant business on"?
Really??
We don't need the incompetent building of roads (driven into Campbell Ind Park in the last two years?)
We don't need the rail (towers in Ewa that "can be moved"??)

They are incompetently pissing our taxpayer money away.
The  "little to build a business on" is bullshit.
If they cant do better than that, give us dirt roads & we'll all drive SUV's

The left and right DO disagree on this principle.
For the left is is "The government is here to help you & the people need to be led"
For the right it is " The government screws up everything it touches & they have forgotten they work for 'We the People'.

Please factually reiterate Romney's "nearly identical comments"
I'd like to hear them.

You stated truth and politics are nearly incompatible these days.
I'd say that is exemplified by the Democrat party.
Joe BIden recently stated that Repubilcans want to see Blacks in chains again.
What horseshit. How insulting to intelligence. Who believes his BS? He is the VP, for Christ's sake.
They are again resulting to racial division.
Wasn't he supposed to be the post-racial president?

I don't believe it was a slip.
Punctuation? Really??

The people that have built this America is the taxpayer.
The somebody who invested in the roads & bridges is the taxpayer.

The government used money it took from the taxpayer.
The government is not an income generating entity.

If you've got a business, the unreasonable tax burden you pay has paid for the roads & bridges.
You have paid for it.

If you've got a business, YOU built it, despite unreasonable tax burdens.
You have paid for it.

Somebody else made that happen?
What?
WTF?
The taxpayer made that happen.
And we are being told by this incompetent jackass that we are not paying enough.

Realize who this man really is.
Realize he campaigned as a centrist moderate & promised new levels of transparency.

He doesn't believe in the ideals our country was founded on.
Go see 2016 & it will enlighten you.

Inform yourself. Open your eyes to the lies right in front of you.

I saw it last week at Dole Cannery.
Caught the 10pm show during the week, cause I was out surfing after work.

I got there for the last bit of the earlier show & there were about 40-50 people there.
The 10PM show had less, but it was Wed night...

Not bad attendance on a week night, for a state enamored with an incompetent 'leader'

Never sign something you don't completely read.

Red-lne or cross out terms you don't agree with.

Go see 2016 the movie.
I saw it last night.
It will convince you his motives to change America are based upon FALSE IDEALS.

His whole book "Dreams from my Father" is bullshit.
He has melodramatically "in his mind" replaced (in denial) the realization that his father was not present & worthless with the falsehood of his father being a socialist visionary.
It's complete horse shit…
The reality of it is that he was surrounded by socialists during his life.

This isn't a black man with a grudge against white people.
He is on a mission to make reparations to the entire world, for the successes of capitalism in the US.
He fails to support Israel, & fails to do anything about Iran.

He does not like the US, or the ideals of which it was founded.

I still cannot accept that Americans voted this complete failure into office…
We are smarter than that, this time ??

People in Hawaii will vote for a democrat no matter how dumb or destructive they are. Like I said, this phenominal 4th grade reading level our locals get when they graduate from high school is a big part of this. I just came from jury duty. Can you believe that 13 out of 17 jurors stated that they wish to ban ALL guns from civilians and only the military and HPD should have them?2 were for gun control and limited use by civilians and myself and one other person were for no gun control.Worst part is....all jurors were chosen from voter registration which means all voted.I would say locals....not all but a lot....are dumb. I cant say what the trial was about until its finished but you would be surprised. And for the record... I am local. My mom is hawaiian chinese, my dad hawaiian portugese. Both dedicated socialist till the day my father died and about 2 years before my mom  died.Complained of restrictive gun laws but kept voting the same butt holes into office. Only difference is my mother got saved. So her last 2 years or so she voted conservative. Go figure.Keep the faith boys. I keep praying for the right to own and carry firearms never to be taken away. Stay strong guys. In the end WE WILL PREVAIL.

It was Churchill who quoted "If you are not a liberal when you're 20, you don't have a heart, but if you are not a conservative when you're 40, you don''t have a brain."

Another HK whore?
Toku58 just picked up a clean SR9T.

The Big Island long gun permits are one year & the handgun permits are the same.
The registrations are good for the state.

I had three UZI receivers & built them out.
The registrations said receiver only.
I went back to re-register & they added barrel length.
I dont know if it would matter, if you just kept the receiver only registration.

Be sure to let us know of updates on the confiscation issue, or all the issues we should pay attention to for this session. I will gladly support them.

Without some active intervention, I can tell you what will happen right now...the bill will die and, god forbid, if something akin to Katrina strikes us, there will be firearms seizures.

Here's a suggestion for those who think they'd like to participate in something...have someone organize a visit to Hanohano's office and ask to have her remove the poison pill and pass the bill out of committee "as is."  Show up with all the folks you can muster and show her what we, as a community, can muster...again, unless "we" build up some political capital (a "show of force" in her office would garner a lot of this "political capital") any position "we" take will be dismissed or disregarded because the politicos won't see us as a threat or a force to reconed with...

A little back ground on the poison pill - the bill had a provision added to it to include Rh testing (blood typing) which, is not permitted as it had nothing to do with the title of the bill...this will effectively kill the bill. The "poison pill" was added last year as the bill passed between committees.

I'm more interested in supporting this confiscation bill than CC.
Some of us are outer island, so the face to face is difficult.
