There are a few reason oil finishes dont harden up, sometimes it involves stripping back down to bare wood and starting over. Not too difficult but important to follow certain guidelines. If there is any checkering on the stock be careful when you strip/sand in those areas. Feel free to reach out to me if you like, I have extensive wood finishing/refinishing experience.

Firearms and Accessories / Re: FN SCAR vs POF Revolution
« on: February 27, 2020, 11:50:10 PM »
I have the scar 17s and love it. Ive only had a Vortex Razor gen II 1-6 on it with zero issues, but have heard of lower budget scopes taking a beating. Theres a channel on YT called Kentucky Arsenal, they claim the POF is a better gun and made a video describing why. I think you would probably be fine either way if a deal came along. Theres been a few scars pop up in here, one for 2200 if I recall about a year ago. Maybe one Revolution has come up. I really like the scar but the buy in is steep, and it doesnt stop there. The stock trigger is crap, the geissele upgrade is 375 last I checked. Extra mags are now $45? I think. Would love to hear from an objective POF owner as the Revolution has peaked my interest as well.

Off Topic / Re: This website sucks
« on: January 19, 2020, 06:06:44 PM »
This website has become one where the people expect to get something for basically free.  Henceforth, I am taking my stuff and selling it elsewhere because the people on this site expect  to get something for 50% of what it’s worth.  After I post this ad, I will no longer post or reply to any ads on this site because the people who participate on it don’t appreciate the value of what a gun is actually worth.  I recommend that anyone reading this do the same, rather than giving in to selling your stuff for half of what you paid for it.

Personally I hope you decide to give this site a second thought before you leave. Its not perfect. The people in here are not perfect. That said, it has brought so many good people together to sell, trade, and share with one another that the little bad one experiences is acceptable. As a community we are under constant attack for our rights, making sticking together increasingly important. We have so few outlets like this, none in Hawaii that compare that I am aware of.

Hope you reconsider.

Firearms and Accessories / Re: 1-8x (or 1-6x) Optics
« on: September 07, 2018, 06:50:30 PM »
id highly recommend the Vortex Razor Gen II. Really really well made optic, though heavy. Insane customer service and the lifetime no questions asked warranty is untouched in the industry. I hemmed and hawed on the price but couldnt be happier that i bought one. Had it for several years now.

Firearms and Accessories / Re: let's talk micro red dots
« on: March 31, 2014, 07:21:08 PM »
I have a couple of T1 micros, a 2moa and a 4moa. I like the 2 moa for a bit more crispness in the dot on lower settings. I have not compared them to the other sights mentioned, though I do think Vortex makes good gear. Jerry Miculek seems to be pretty smitten with then (yes I know hes sponsored by them) but his endorsement should justify a good look into them. For me I wanted something tiny and light that could take a beating. For inside 100 yrds its hard to beat. I used to run an eotech but didnt trust it after the reticle washed out. Eotech did replace it to their credit, but I wanted to move on. The point i have arrived at now is red dots are good for quick acquisition in close environments but leave ALOT to be desired (for me) for quick acquisition on targets that are either longer range or are partially or mostly obscured. Ive been looking at the Elcan Specter DR, the newest optic for some of the military's more specialized branches. Yes its alot, but if it helps the bullet get from point A to B with greater precision and speed, maybe its worth a look. Just my two cents.....I want a optic that's a bit more versatile is all.

I would at least buy the AR. $500 is a lot of money and in my tiny brain it would make some sense that it would be better to train on the weapon you will be using later on. The pistol might be a good idea but it seems likely you could train on one of theirs and if you like it enough buy one later. With AR prices coming down fast it seems you could work up a good deal pretty fast. There's a guy on here selling a AR for 12-1300 cant remember which but its got a BCM upper and I think a LMT lower. Don't quote me on the lower but BCM is top notch. Just my thoughts.  Met you btw down at HPD few weeks back.
