General Discussion / Re: 18650 batteries
« on: April 01, 2023, 07:02:41 PM »
Just want to say Sean with Nitecore Hawaii is fantastic.  I never used (or honestly even heard) of Nitecore before seeing on this thread.  Decided to try it out to support local and their product reviews are overall positive.

Bought a flashlight and a rechargeable 18650.  Sean texted me just a few minutes after the order to make sure I had the right battery since the flashlight uses the Nitecore 21700.  Order shipped out same day.  Top notch customer service.

Ron and Brent do not seem like the kind of guys who are gonna steal a mag.  That’s just my opinion.  Have you tried asking them directly?

Can anyone tell me where I can pick up some 18650 batteries locally or anyone online sellers willing/able to to ship to Hawaii?    Tried all the big names and couldn’t find one willing to ship. Thanks.

Thanks for the input all.  I’ll bring extra ear pro so neighbors can double up if they’re sensitive.   :shaka:

General Discussion / Comps at KHSC

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but didn’t find anything.  With KHSC (hopefully) set to reopen soon, I’m wondering if it’s bad form to shoot comped rifles?

It’s probably been 6+ years since I regularly shot there last and just getting back into it, and I forget what the etiquette is.  Personally, it doesn’t bother me when someone shoots a loud gun, but I don’t want to be “that guy” annoying everyone else at the range.

Anyone have thoughts on whether it’s appropriate?  Would be shooting mostly comped 5.56 and .308.  Thanks.

Thanks.  I checked them out but it looks like they only offer liability insurance.  I’m actually looking for insurance for theft, fire, flood, etc.

I applied for a policy with Collect insure.  Anyone else have good experiences with other companies for insuring firearms and accessories?  Thanks.

This might be old news but might help someone out there.  Spoke with a few dealers with thousands of A+ reviews on GB.  Apparently a lot of them bought clearance IC-A2s and they’re going for hundreds off MSRP.  Just ordered one for about $1,500.  You might also try finding the dealer’s website to avoid GB taxes and fees.  Buy at your own risk of course.

Knowingly selling counterfeits is illegal.  Obviously you don't know whether the seller knew, but you can still report the transaction to the manufacturer or local authorities.  You could also use that threat to leverage a refund.  If the guy was legit, he'd give you one.  Pretty damn shady to do otherwise...

Dwayne Lim is a really nice guy but I think he's only open after 4 pm on weekdays and on weekends.  His shop is in Pauoa and its called Danger Close Tactical.  His ffl fees are about the same and maybe slightly lower than most other shops.

How's the SRS?  I've been kind of interested in one.

I think the Koko head site says it's closed holidays but dunno if that info is old.

I think one of the biggest hurdles to less stringent gun laws is the general public perception of gun owners.  A lot of people seem to be afraid of gun owners, and think they're all rednecks with trigger fingers (I have many friends and family like this, and I'm sure most of you do too).  Hell, I live in a condo building, and after getting constant judgmental stares whenever I walked to and from my car with a rifle bag, I finally stopped going to the range as often.

The funny thing is though that everyone I've met through this site or on the range has been really laid back and chill. Unless and until we can get the popular support, there's no real hope of getting better laws passed.

On a related note, what's to stop someone from opening his own security guard firm, and to constantly be on the job protecting him or herself, or family and friends for that matter?

Thanks guys!  Wasn't sure if HPD got all fed holidays off and/or if the recent executive order had any effect.

Anyone know if HPD firearms will be open Christmas Eve and/or day after Christmas?  Thanks.
