Thanks Mauidog. You're right.  I tend to over worry about stuff like paperwork. Mahalo!

Thanks all for the advice. Since my last post I have found a new doctor, but wont be able to have my first visit until April. So....let's say I find a great deal on a pistol today and go to apply for a permit tomorrow, do I put my new (but not yet met) doctor's info on the forms?

Thanks for the replies guys.  You know, I could just wait until I find a new doctor.  In fact it would be the easiest thing to do, but damn, when you want a new gun, you WANT a new gun.

Aloha all,

My doctor is ending his practice at the end of the month (Feb. 2015) and I am still in the process of finding a new family physician. Will this be a problem when I go to HPD to apply for a new handgun permit? Do I just give them the information of my old doctor?  Please advise.

Mahalos!

If this is true, what do you think of the future security of Hawaii residence and the well being of Hawaii gun-owners?

Went to pick up my long-gun permit and was in and out of there in 2 minutes! I hope it's this easy next month. There's a lot of stuff I want to get.  :shaka:

Only 3 guys in the room. In and out in less than 30 minutes. It's going to be a great day! :shaka:

Since you posted on another thread that you were thinking about buying a handgun out of state (due to an earlier DUI), maybe you can find a cheaper safety course instructor in that state.  Just a suggestion.

Wow! Starting to look like HPD.  Funny how we complain about standing in line to register but don't mind standing in line to buy.   :shaka:

In at 7:45 and out by 8:15! No one past the door when I left. Not bad at all.  :shaka:

Went to the doctor today for a bi-annual check up.  Mind you,  I bought my first rifle in November of 2012 and I haven't seen him in 6 months and the first thing he asks me when he walks through the door is, "so you got a gun?" (not "hello" or "how are you").  So I guess the HPD IS doing those medical background checks.  At least I know my doctor is anti-gun and I know what not to talk about the next time I see him.

Got there early (6:00am) for the silhouette range. Not too many people at that time. Low wind and the weather was awesome.  We got to watch the sun rise and talk story with some great people. Today was a great day.  :shaka: :shaka:

I did a quick read.  This bill appears to ban the possession of "Assault Weapons" with no grandfather clause for existing owners.  Total gun grab bill.

You are absolutely correct.  There is NO clause for grandfathering.  There is, however, a measure for relinquishment:

"ยง134-D  Relinquishment of assault weapon to law enforcement.  Any individual may arrange in advance to relinquish an assault weapon to a county police department or the department of public safety for disposal, without penalty.  " :shake:

By the way this current administration is running things, it looks like we'll need a permit to use harsh language. :shake:
