I still don't understand how you would accidentally fire your weapon while cleaning ???

Sure you can.  Rack slide, drop magazine, fire to free the striker. bang.   (just to be clear, the procedure should be : drop mag, rack slide, check chamber, pull trigger to free striker and disassemble).

I wrote to them saying that buying a used service pistol is the same as buying any other gun from a gunshop.  But, I can hear the politicians say "If one is used as  in a crime, it'll come back to bite us".  CYA

The sheriff is elected. They chief of police is appointed by the mayor.

Even worse, I think.  I believe the chief of Police is appointed by the Police Commission!

I can understand they *want* to see it, I just don't think they can require it.  Possession of an assault pistol is a crime.  You wouldn't be possessing an assault pistol.   You generally don't have to prove you are obeying the law, they have to prove you are breaking it.  I guess they could refuse to register pistol lowers without a completed upper if they wanted to.

Oops.  Yes, typo.  Should be completed not completely. .  Fixed in post.  The instructions seem to say that once the upper was attached, it had to be re-registered.   I don't believe that is the case.

Mauidog, saw in your instructions that you said the registered pistol receiver had to be re-registered as a pistol once it was completed.   Are you certain of this?  Since it is already registered as  a pistol, I don't think you have to.   In this HHAA article, the attorney notes there is no reregistration requirement if a registered firearm is rechambered, re-barreeled, etc...

Hey There,

Thought this would be of interest to this group.  Hawaii Historical Arms Association has just released about 60 articles explaining the often convuluted Hawaii Gun Laws.  We've been updating our website and are starting to release articles that appeared in the club newsletters for all these years.  This is our first big release.  Please check it out and we hope you find it helpful.

AND there it is ........................................................................................     KNIFE CONTOL!     YOU KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN!

We all knew it would happen.   Just like in England, "Surrender your knife"!   http://www.thedailysheeple.com/is-this-a-joke-british-police-push-for-ban-on-pointy-knives_112014

In Australia, if you keep a hammer by your bed for protecion, that's big time illegal.   Better have some nails and wood in the bedroom as well.

So when moving out of state....  and taking firearms with yous declared and checked baggage on an airline to your new home....   you would be en-route to home from your 'place of sojourn or from your current residence to your new 'place of sojourn'....

( I think )

Yes, I think that is it.  I would argue that you are leaving from "home" enroute to your place of sojourn.  I am not a lawyer.

Please take note that the transport law doesn't allow you take guns to your friends house (or an airport, camping per DLNR, UPS by the airport or any other shipping facility for that matter).

I guess you could take your guns to your friends house if you spent the night since that would be your place of sojourn.

[ fixed, after proper correction from punaperson -- thanks ]

Peruta might go en banc, after all -- Even though neither of the parties have appealed

General Discussion / Re: Pocket pistol. What would you carry.
« on: November 29, 2014, 04:09:34 PM »
I would carry a Springfield XDS in 45acp.   It definitely fits in the pocket  and is quite thin and compact (3.3 inch barrel).    And with 5+1 of 45 goodness, it can stop almost anything.   Striker fired, compact and powerful.  What's not to like?

Found a brand new, in box, Belgian FN Hi-Power chambered in 40 s&w with 3 sets of grips for $500.

Great gun show for me.

Raw, disconnected statistics.

^^^^^This. Another xample of this kind of thing is this headline: "Epidemic: Guns kill twice as many kids as cancer does"

Wow, sounds pretty bad.  But, in reality, cancer is pretty rare in children.  So, are gun deaths.  These type of statistics are often used by anti-gun people to try and score a political point.

Often the people who say that many people aren't responsible enough for CCW sound a lot like "Guns for me, but not for thee" crowd...

Firearms and Accessories / Re: Lever Action Rifle Picture Thread

Got a few. here are some of my favorites.   I really love lever guns.  Use them in SASH every month.  I order of pictures:

1. Chiappa clone of a Winchester 1887 lever action 12 gauge shotgun.
Regular shooter in Cowboy Action Shooting.  Took it trap shooting once and got lots of stares!   A bit too heavy for trap.

2. Uberti Winchester 1866 "Yellowboy" Clone in 45 colt.
"Big Bore" Cowboy action shooter.   Really needs a short stroke kit for SASS.

3. Winchester/Miroku 1892 in 357 magnum
Kind of a show piece.  Miroku finishes are the best.   I always wanted a big W 92.   Large loop lever looks cool, but isn't as practical as regular.

4. Winchester/Miroku 1873 in 38/357
Really nice nice gun.  Tuned from the factory for SASS.  Fast shooter.  Miroku finish.  Love this gun.  This is my regular shooter.

5. Rossi Ranch Hand in 45 colt
Really a range toy.  But it lets me shoot a lever gun at the Silloutte and bullseye range since its a registered pistol.   Kinda hard to shoot since you can't shoulder it.  Tend to do the cheek weld with no shoulder support.
