General Discussion / Time to Say Goodbye

Gentlemen/Ladies, et al,

After nearly 13 years, my time has come to depart the Islands for good and I would like to say thanks to all of you who continue to fight for our 2a rights here and press our rights elsewhere. It has been a great honor to meet, eat, mingle, drink, and shoot with some  of you. I could not ask for a better crowd to be associated with.

I will not be following this great forum where I am going next, but if you need to reach me, then you already know how!  As of the 11th of June, I will not be back here (unless people keep eating peoples faces on the mainland).

Please support Chris Baker, HDF, and anyone else that is willing to stick out there necks in an effort restore the rights that have been completely stripped of you here.

I will mention the issues that Hawaii faces whenever I can, to whomever I cross. I will miss the candid and most often sarcastic (and sometimes straight fucking tin foil hat) discussions on this board. Most of all I will miss those of you that I have come to know and shoot with.

V/R and Take Care

Actually that sounds like a great idea!  I'm going to look for some rocks to keep under the seat of my car.

Of course it'll have to be a 10 rock capacity limit.

River Rock Arms. Instead of Rock River. :p
Don't forget that you may have get an NFA stamp for arms (left or right) that can multiple rocks at a time.

Banks are required to snitch to the federal government on all large deposits, or anything that "looks suspicious".

Carrying large sums of cash (I.e., refusing to use banks) apparently means you have no rights, because you're presumed to be a criminal.

Result? The government has its eyes on your money.

The War on Drugs is not about keeping us safe. It doesn't keep people from using drugs. It's an excuse to concentrate power.

Its not just money bro, the GOV is watching for anything these days.   Kinda like pre-WW2 Germany. Any excuse is a good excuse.

Find them
Watch them
Round them up and kill them.

That'll be an interesting can of worms.  The "law" as it is written in Hawaii/Honolulu County regarding Concealed Carry of Firearms and their use in self defense situations?  Or perhaps withing the scope of his (temporary) duties while assigned to the detail which directed his place of employment as Hawaii/Honolulu County?  The response from he judge could very well affect the direction of "the Lawsuit" implicating Chief Kealoha and the Govenor.

Not likely. If Deedy was indeed "on the job"  he falls under a different set of rules than your average citizen.

Waiting for the outcome.

???
I can't help but wonder if our President could get a security clearance should he have wanted a sensitive DOD or State department job.
Having been through the questionaire, I think there is enough in his background to at least raise serious questions, but he has the most sensitive job of all.

Too bad elected politiciana are not vetted through that process, if they were, they not would be electable.  ;D

Aegis808, and others:  You'd better download a full HTML of those websites because five'll getcha ten somebody will dig into them and change the originals.

You should also provide specific links to them.  I'm sorry, but too much stuff on the intenet is just rumor-mongering.  Nothing personal, mind you, but my most favorite Apostle is "Doubting Thomas."

I'm with a lot of others who take a wait and see attitude on this, but I'm also aware that the Administration is very clever, and it is possible that absolute proof of his US birthplace will be forthcoming at exactly the right moment to embarrass and marginalize the birthers.

So I have my doubts about his eligibility based on what I've seen so far, but I will not exclude the possibility that all the "possibly fake documents" were issued as a political / public relations ploy, for the exact purpose of generating and maintaining the controversy until the right moment.

I definitely want to get a 1911 at some point but I'd rather have my first pistol chambered in 45 be a polymer framed one.  Anyone have any recommendations?
Polymer 45's I can think of off the top of my head.
HK 45/45c
M&P 45/45c
Ruger P345
Glock 30/36

An HK 45 is at the top of my list but the price of HK pistols is somewhat hard to come to terms with when many other options can be had for a lot less.
Glock 21sf

Is paying for ammo or powder and primers and cash a suspicious activity? Any shops out there who want to go on record saying they won't track their customers like this?
how would they?
12
That is the safest coarse of action for yourself and others around you.  Did that during my deploymet as a gunner searching for ied's. With no deaths or injuries in my truck.  I does not take more then a second to pull a charging handle or slide.
bad advice.

Thats  you on deployment. You have others with weapons and are not likely to encounter an assailant at 21 feet or less.

What happens if you panic and forget to chamber, what if they have the advantage of surprise?

Might as well holster a brick and carry it instead.
13
Not sure on the pistol he was using.  But in all cases that I have witnessed personally, involved complacency.   Best way to avoid a negligent discharge, is not not have a round chambered, unless you have the intent of using it.

What? So are you saying that you should carry a firearm without a round in the chamber or that if i do carry with one in the pipe that i am intent on using it?

Florida Governor rejected the request for a temp gun ban outside GOP convention.  He doesn't see how disarming law abiding citizens makes them safer.  Way to go GOV Scott!

By the way, the main gun store I go to here says that mostly everyone says  :grrr:"Obama"... the rest say 2012 ... :shake: :wtf:
i hope people realize that when the mayan calendar was created, leap year wasn't considered. The 2012 date has passed already.

I was told that leaving a bow in the car (heat) can be bad for the bow.
wood maybe.
17
I'm not! I am looking to get into it! lol.

I wish I could set up targets on the side of my house O_o.
i was out sighting i my Beeman air rifle and my daughters daisy today. Do it, archery is great!
18
I looked around but I couldn't find anything or probably looking in the wrong place. Without using a car, can I keep a bow and some arrows in my backpack, then take it to the archery range in kapiolani park after work, and then go home?
i carried mine in my car all over the place. Never an issue.  But IANAL!

Didn't know you were into archery. I just set up targets on the side of my house in OK
