I am on orders and will not have a weight limit on luggage. Measured the ammo and it came to 25lbs. I will shoot all the 9mm before I leave since it is easier to get.

11 pounds per person.. family of 4 can take 44 lbs.
Does my 9month old count? ;)

Ill be flying Hawaiin Airlines out of San Diego. Looked on their site but didnt see anything about weight...I don't have a ton of ammo. Ill weigh it when I get home. .308 is heavy!

Will I be able to bring the ammunition on the flight with me to Hawaii?(obviously checking it) My firearms are good to go and will be shipped with the household goods.

Hey guys just looking through my military moving documents. It appears I cannot have "privately owned live ammunition" in my household goods move...Any one else transfer out to Hawaii with ammunition? I have about 400 .308 and 250 9mm rounds I planned on bringing with me.

This is very gray to me: "which are not capable of being readily restored to a capacity of more than ten rounds." So if I get a temporary block for my mags that I can not "readily" modify back to stock I should be ok...That is how I interpret this.

Yuck...They are like $45 a pop for the FNS :( I guess I could buy a couple while I am in HI then sell them when I leave?

Thanks for the info! Could I use this http://www.magazineblocks.com/magento/products/magblock-kits/pistols-3/fnh/fns-9-magblock-10-17-10-and-15-round-limiter.html ?

FN mags are pricey /sigh! I could perhaps buy the SCAR lower that can handle cheaper mags but at around $500, it would take a LONG time to recuperate the cost :). Don't see any other purpose for the lower that I am aware of.

Hey guys! Chris here. I am in the Navy and moving to Oahu in Febuary with my Wife, little baby girl, and Shiba Inu dog!

I grew up in Vermont and spent time shooting when I was younger as well as a little bit in the Navy, but basically I am self taught. Parents weren't into hunting or anything so we never owned guns. Usually  shot with friends in our back yards. I now own a SCAR 17 with the Burris XTR2 1.5-8x. and a FN FNS-9. Maryland has very few rifle ranges so I have not had much time with the SCAR and zero range time with the optics! Can't wait to get out to Hawaii and start shooting more.

Curious about the mag sizes for my SCAR and FNS-9. 20rds and 17 respectively. Not sure if they will need blocks or not.

Hey guys,

So starting in February I will be joining the community for at least 3 years. I have SCAR 17s and FNS-9 that will be coming with and I am concerned mainly about the magazine sizes. The SCAR is 20rds and the FNS is 17. I currently only have 1 SCAR mag and 3 for FNS.

Will I be held up with these? Should I ship the magazines separately?

We are probably going to live out in town rather than on base.

I Appreciate any and all advice. Thanks in advance,

-Chris
