Gun stores and  HPD Firearms division.

HRS [§134-23]  Place to keep loaded firearms other than pistols and revolvers; penalty.  (a)  Except as provided in section 134-5, all firearms shall be confined to the possessor's place of business, residence, or sojourn; provided that it shall be lawful to carry unloaded firearms in an enclosed container from the place of purchase to the purchaser's place of business, residence, or sojourn, or between these places upon change of place of business, residence, or sojourn, or between these places and the following:

What is your place of residence ?  Is it the 4 walls of your home ? OR is it the property on which your home sits ? One could even argue that where you live is your Domicile and that the State is your place of residence. domicile and residence have different meanings whilst both meaning the same thing but under different circumstances.

HPS can not give legal advice and they do not define the law, Only the AG can define the law but they wont define it to you, Gunshops are going to play it safe as anything they tell you can get them sued.
