What's wrong with this Generation?  All generations have issues and the geezers always say the latest generation cannot live up to their own, however I say this as a big generalization, but this sums it up for me in regards to the current crop of younger people....

- Entitled.
- Lazy.
- Everyone gets a trophy (maybe falls under entitled), why should I actually work for anything, I am going to get a trophy anyway.  God I hate AYSO, I9 etc, and why the hell do you have to do a damn food service after every game?  Damn kids show up just to get their medal or trophy and eat pizza afterwards.  Many could give a rip about playing the actual game and never mind about the score and actually trying to win.
- Over sensitive (too worried about political correctness and driving the concept).
- Too much tech, not enough hands on.
- Raised by parents who thought that spanking was illegal or not the right way of parenting and that "time outs" work.
- Taught by a generation of teachers / professors who are slanted the wrong way.
- Not enough pride in, or knowledge of American history and don't give a shit.
- Think that socialism works.  Don't know enough about world history.

There is more, but that sums it up.

+2

Except for parts about AYSO. ::)
As longtime coach, ref and more, my teams enjoyed the game and played to win.
Our team(s) had to elect a single player on their team at the end of season to be rewarded just so they knew who was the not necessarily the best, but most improved ! )
I do DEFINATELY agree about the trophy food aspect, what PITA  :grrr:

Because there's so many of them, millennials like the baby boomer generation cannot be ignored.

I've attended several seminars and read presentations about managing this group in the workplace.  It seems like this generation can be highly productive but needs constant baby sitting.

Unfortunately, this market focus just adds to their need for constant attention.

LOL my parents were never scared to "spank me" as a kid, they went full Asian, hehe considering how they grew up, no matter what I got it easy, shit I got hit with everything especially clothes hangers! haha, I got hit in front of the teacher one time cause I failed a test, this was in elementary and going up, not once has my parents blamed the teacher cause I wasn't paying attention either. I learn that that shit is on you, I didn't grow up like most other kids that got to have everything they asked for, didn't have a playstation, gameboy color, etc.. I just played outside and use my imagination. which i'm glad cause i'm not glued to the screen playing games all day instead of being healthy outdoors, growing up I hated some of these things and were jealous of other kids but now i'm glad I didn't get spoiled with goods, when I wanted something, I had to work hard for it from school, needed an A+ to be able to get yu-gi-oh cards    I learned what hard work is from that. now days i see kids as young as 5 years old glued onto an ipad, or iphone, like WTF do kids that young need to have their own iphones anyways, :wtf: the average age for kids to own their own cellphone is 11 yrs old now, 70% of kids own their own cellphone, like my little cousins too, they cry when they don't get it and the parents give up and just give it to them cause they don't wanna deal with it, that's building bad habits right there, that's why kids will start thinking they're entitled to whatever they want. when I was working as a server I can't tell you how many times I seen a whole family with everyone on their phones and no family time spent, the children, the mom and father! like every ones facing each other with the phone in their face, when I went to eat with my family, we can't have any electronics out and have to behave. and parents blame the teachers?! why if you're child's sleeping in class or fail a test or is not studying etc.. its probably cause you let him stay up all night playing CoD, or not punishing the child whenever he talks back or what not, shit my dad actually gave the teachers permission to hit me if i was misbehaving in class lmao   luckily I think it was to scare me into behaving, it worked too.

also the feel good rule in schools where every kid gets a gold star, regardless of competition or work, cause parents don't want kids feelings "hurt" which is understandable to a certain extent, competitions suppose to be healthy and give you a push to strive to be better, its a good motivating factor, and rewards in the end pay off, but this is one of the main problems when a kid that studies very hard and a kid that puts no effort is also "rewarded as if he studied" this is a socialistic idea....

my disclaimer: this is also a generalization and not meant to target anyone, this is just a RANT about how I feel my generation nowadays, of course not every ones like this, most people my age are now working hard and are in college now

I remember as a child, I once told my grandmother that my mother hit me (don't know why, sure I deserved it).

G-ma smacked me again.

I agree. I have 14 nieces and nephews and my wife has 12 and I am constantly trying to figure them out. So I have researched this generation and I am actually pleasantly surprised. While some of their behaviors drive me crazy, I now understand them. I just wish they are more involved in the political process than they have shown so far. That might change in the future as they are the type that want to make a difference. And voting can make a difference.

I worked in the computer industry for 12 years before going back to what I am doing now. And while not all the companies I worked for did things the same way, two of the companies I worked for were probably already prepared to take on this generation. One company was a start-up and died in 2000. But the other company I worked for is Cisco Systems and I believe they were already on the way to dealing with this generation when I worked for them 1996-2000. It is too bad Cisco has turned into the perverbial  800lb gorilla. I believe a lot of companies are going to struggle quite a bit to retain good employees until they change their management style.
SCIENCE THAT CAN’T BE QUESTIONED IS PROPAGANDA!!!
