I was working on Waikiki beach when the first warning came in, not only did the hotel I work for not inform the guests of the situation, they downplayed the whole thing and told us to keep working and that it would just be "a few ripples" needless to say me and a couple of my coworkers weren't having it, I got my shit together and was out of work in about 10 minutes after the first siren went off. Right as I was leaving the tourists started catching on to what was happening and then the panic started, when I walked out of the front of my hotel all of the abc stores and other shops were closing up and taping their windows up which added to the panic. I thought to myself this is what a shtf situation must look like, everybody on the street was scrambling to try to get to an elevator to get to a high floor, I saw the hotel across the streets line for the elevator started coming out of the lobby and around the block. I was going to catch a ride with one of my friends home but I heard that alawai blvd was a parking lot so I walked a little over a mile to my house by don quijote off of kalakaua. When I was walking there were some guys fighting in the streets and all kind of shit going on, lots of people dressed up for Halloween and hammerd. All the police were busy dealing with evacuations and barricading all roads in to Waikiki. Eventually I got home grabbed my girlfriend and our pets and headed to my cousins place that's a high rise apt. It was a pretty crazy experience.
