I got enough MRE's, water, and ammo saved for such an event as this...however, I wasn't disciplined enough to keep my beer stockpile full  >:(  :'(

Got the salami warning about an hour or so after Notre Dame schooled the Sooners....

Wifey and I decided not to pull the plug this time as we live about about a half mile out of the salami zone... Although made plans to pull real quick and had all our supplies ready to go at a moments notice.

All good and no damage I know of at this time...

Be safe everyone... looks like we escaped another one!

Aloha!

I know...most people are getting more and more complacent, this being the 3rd time.. I think I've been taking it more and more seriously each time.

I was working in downtown Honolulu until just before 10 p.m. and then went home. H1 Ewa bound was packed with cars and there were lines going into thef gas stations. I can't understand the compulsion behind filling up your tank just before a disaster. I can understand making an emergency run for Cheetos to stave off hours of boredom as you sit at home without power and waiting for power and more importantly, ESPN 1 and 2 to be restored, but gearing up to do a circle Island tour has got me befuddled.

I live very close to the evac area in Ewa Beach. I can tell you that Ft Weaver road was a clusterf***.  All gas stations where packed and heard fights broke out. People need to be better prepared. People should keep their tanks at least 1/2 full at all times and a 5 gallon can of nonnethonol gas for the event that they are at 1/2 tank and need a few more miles.

The city should require gas stations and stores on main evac roads be shut down in an emergency
Traffic signals should be able to be switched to rush hour timing.
People that are in safe zones should stay at home unless absolutely necessary to drive somewhere.

If this was a real tsunami, many woukd have been screwed on the west side for sure. They where trapped. I dont understand why these issues are never addressed. ???

Yep, people are gonna get too complacent thinking nothing will happen and just ignore it.

It'll be right about then when I'll be chillin' safely in Kalihi, supplies ready, watching the news, beer in hand, and shaking my head as the idiots at the beach get washed away..

I was working on Waikiki beach when the first warning came in, not only did the hotel I work for not inform the guests of the situation, they downplayed the whole thing and told us to keep working and that it would just be "a few ripples" needless to say me and a couple of my coworkers weren't having it, I got my shit together and was out of work in about 10 minutes after the first siren went off. Right as I was leaving the tourists started catching on to what was happening and then the panic started, when I walked out of the front of my hotel all of the abc stores and other shops were closing up and taping their windows up which added to the panic. I thought to myself this is what a shtf situation must look like, everybody on the street was scrambling to try to get to an elevator to get to a high floor, I saw the hotel across the streets line for the elevator started coming out of the lobby and around the block. I was going to catch a ride with one of my friends home but I heard that alawai blvd was a parking lot so I walked a little over a mile to my house by don quijote off of kalakaua. When I was walking there were some guys fighting in the streets and all kind of shit going on, lots of people dressed up for Halloween and hammerd. All the police were busy dealing with evacuations and barricading all roads in to Waikiki. Eventually I got home grabbed my girlfriend and our pets and headed to my cousins place that's a high rise apt. It was a pretty crazy experience.
