Is there any updates on the axis Deer that was released on the big Island?

I've got friends working in BIISC. No dispute that they're here and growing since confirmation in 2011. DLNR and BIISC both have eradication as high priority from what I've heard. From what I've researched, it'll probably be best for Big Island in the long term without these animals around.  Shame, cause it's the best tasting game around. Moloka`i is getting stripped of vegetation and losing choke topsoil every year - even they need more hunters to keep the numbers in check. Big Island will get f-ed. Now if the state started developing more hunting areas + more roads + more outreach that might be a different story...

notice the haole pilot got arrested and put in the news, but not the people who coordinated the move

i hear rumors that it was some of my professional colleagues that were involved

Two guys went to court right?
I think the pilot just played dumb and said he was doing a job.
The second guy was the one who coordinated it and had a stricter sentence.
Hopefully this means I can go up and do some eradication/heli ops.

A federal judge is sentencing a Maui helicopter pilot to a year of probation and 500 hours of community service for illegally flying deer to the Big Island.

Illegal to do in Hawaii we have a County Ordinance that forbids shooting animals from aircraft.  The only area they are allowed is in the Palila Critical Habitat due to Federal judgement.

What area of the big island have the deer spotted in? I hear there's no bag limit either.
