I've been lurking regarding this event for the past several days and haven't seen anyone talk about it on any of the forums I visit, so I thought I'd bring it out here and see what you guys think. I really hope it's not just a show.

Left, right, conservatives, progressives, liberals, democrats, republicans, etc. Titles don't matter to me.  :shaka:

Been eyeing it, I'm liking the fact that Congress will  be required to abide by the Constitution. Will have to see how it goes.

It was also said that the day they take the seats, the entire constitution is to be read out loud. How exciting is that!  Love it.

That's what scares me.

This is quite timely considering that this topic was a large portion of the discussion at last night's panel with Sen. Slom and Sheriff Mack.

I really hope that they're able to stick to this, but I'm doubtful. The problem is the Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution(1) clearly outlines what powers Congress are granted, yet the vast majority of the legislative (and their own personal financial agendas) have nothing to do with any of those 18 duties granted to Congress. While this is DEFINITELY a step in the right direction, it is going to take a long time to get back to where we need to be.

This is what the American people have voted for.  A major change of the way things are done.  Hawaii, as usual, is behind the times. =P
