Sorry to bother you trying to assist, but the ambiguous question, "What is it?" doesn't state you are seeking specific information.

What is the MPPL Monster Match?

You go to those websites and look at the half-ass'd information you gave me, if you personally can't answer my question as to what it is, then you're in the same spot that I'm in.

So back to the topic  so that someone with actual knowledge of the event can answer this question.

Its a USPSA (practical shooting/action pistol) match put on by MPPL.  The Monster Match usually has a  higher round count than the normal monthly or twice monthly USPSA matches that MPPL hosts.  If I remember correctly, the past  years, the Monster Match was shot over 2 days, which meant that you could shoot 2 different divisions, using 2 different handguns.  I can't remember if the scores were combined for the final score or if they were scored as different divisions.  This year its going to be a one day, one gun match.  It sounds kinda like how this years Aloha State Games match was run.  These "bigger matches" typically have more involved stages, more targets, good amount of movers, and steel.  All of their matches are fun and challenging though.
Shoot them an email if you're interested, they're usually more than happy to provide the info you need and respond fairly quickly.  Hope this helped a little.

I've just started handgun shooting sports and I didn't even know how to classify it from the Youtube videos I saw of last year's match.

Ive shot with MPPL the past couple of years and IPSC/USPSA events are very addictive to me.  I just wish I had more time for them and my schedule allowed for more time to shoot these.  I actually haven't shot in a match yet this season with MPPL or HPS. 

Have you shot a match yet with MPPL (and taken their 101 course)?  If not, I encourage you to find the next match that they offer the 101 and also try to see if you can find someone you know or from 2A to meet up with.  The website says that they have someone to mentor you on your first match, but that wasn't my experience nor when I saw other newbies.  I've helped a few 101s in matches before and it's not a problem, but it's better if you know going in that there will be someone there to help guide you through. 

USPSA competition match...try it...it is fun!...They usually have it every weekend (we do here in Maui)...You need a holster, at least 5 magazines, ammo, a good belt, eye/ear protection, and a have fun attitude!  You'll love it.  You can shoot regular production pistols or a race gun. Check it out!
