For those of you who have used both, which do you prefer?

Thanks.

Hey gsmgc, I'm more fond of the STR because its similar to the ACS. I prefer a larger cheek wield.... CTR is also lightweight and reliable. It pretty much comes down to personal reference and style of your shooting abilities. :shaka:

I like the ctr more especially with a RISR on it
Fast is fine , accuracy is final

True. Everyone is different. Best way to find out is to try both out. Ask people if you can try out their setup. I sold my STR stock, but I'll let you try my CTR stock.

If you are considering the STR, then you should possilby add the VLTOR IMOD to the list.  I have the ACS (which is similar to the STR) and the IMOD.  IMO, both give similar cheek welds, both have battery tubes, but the VLTOR weighs about the same as the CTR. The one advantage the Magpul has over the VLTOR is the friction lock.  There is a bit of play on the VLTOR, but it isn't too bad.

I was surprised how much heavier the ACS felt compared to the CTR.

I was running the CTR on my Arsenal AK, but sold it.  I didn't really care for the way it looked.

Thanks everyone for your replies and offers.

I actually have a few CTRs, and actually think they are pretty good.

I did try the STR mounted at a gun shop, but have not actually used one.

Liked the improved cheek weld on it, but not so much the girth.

I like the ctr more especially with a RISR on it

Is this the one that Larue offers? Maybe that's what I should try. Does one have to buy directly from Larue? Has their shipping rates improved?

Yeah from Larue . Shipping was alright i did  order a pair with a few other things . So shipping in that case wasn't too bad
