Was thinking of getting a shotgun for hd and maybe trap. Looking at a remington 870. Can you shoot it at the rifle range to get the feel for it?

Yeah at 50 yards using slugs at a target or bird shot aimed at the berm.  Dont he a d!ck and shoot bird shot at your target at 50 yards.  You may end up peppering someone else's target or frame.

Yes, I would recommend using slugs though so you don't ruin your target frame.

Yes if you use slugs you can shoot at your target, if you use buck/shot  cant shoot at your target  aim up above them, shot spread to other people target

Shot my 870 for the first time a month ago and got slapped around by a slug fest.  At least the gun worked.  :wacko:

Ditto on all the above about shooting on the rifle side.  My $0.02 would not to try and ask for too much out of one gun - meaning just use it for HD, and get another one for trap.  Both require different things - for HD a shorter barrel is desirable becuase it's more manueverable where it's the opposite in trap where a 28" to 32" barrel is better out to range.

just bring it to the skeet range and do doubles at every station, practise pumping it. trust me, it will help tons.

Wait, you can shoot birdshot at the rifle range?
