I'm wondering how they're going to implement the trust rules. Yeah it doesn't apply in Hawaii, but it could someday.

bye bye Mosins? You think they would leave the Mosins alone but I am going to doubt that.

I love the words "MILITARY GRADE"

We are screwed....sadly, our sport is a dying sport.   When I go to da range, and only see more older folks shooting, it makes me sad.   Less and less younger people are into guns now a days...they rather play with their ipads, iphones, etc.   With the media and political climate surrounding firearms, it  makes it worse, since the gun culture is bombarded with demonization of firearms....really sad :(

Straight From the white castle of corruption.....

Quote
Taking Steps to Reduce Gun Violence

Even though Congress fails to act on common-sense proposals to reduce gun violence, like expanding criminal background checks and making gun trafficking a federal crime, President Obama and Vice President Biden remain committed to using all the tools in their power to make our communities safer.

Today, as part of that commitment, Vice President Biden swore in B. Todd Jones as the first permanent Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in seven years.  As the Vice President said, “ATF is the key agency enforcing our gun laws, and they need a permanent director in order to do that and to do the job to the best of their ability.”

The Vice President also announced two new executive actions that build on the comprehensive plan to reduce gun violence that he and President Obama laid out at the beginning of this year:

Closing a Loophole to Keep Some of the Most Dangerous Guns Out of the Wrong Hands

First, ATF is closing a loophole that has allowed machine guns and other particularly dangerous weapons to get into the wrong hands. This loophole allows prospective buyers to license weapons to shell corporations and bypass a required background check. ATF is proposing a rule change that would require anyone associated with those corporations to go through the background checks as individual buyers.

Closing this loophole will make a difference—last year alone, there were more than 39,000 requests for transfers of these restricted firearms to trusts or corporations.

Keeping Surplus Military Weapons Off Our Streets

Second, the Administration is taking action to keep military-grade guns off the streets. Since 2005, the U.S. government has authorized foreign governments to import more than 250,000 military-surplus firearms back into the United States. Today, the Vice President announced a new policy of denying requests to reimport such weapons with few exceptions.
Today’s executive actions are simple, sensible ways to make our communities safer. But they are no replacement for common-sense legislation to reduce gun violence, which we need Congress to pass. And as Vice President Biden said today, “If Congress won't act, we'll fight for a new Congress.”

250,000 military surplus?  Is that those south Korean garands?  Whoa. If the bad guys get their  hands on those.  ::)

It is time to get these looney bast turds Out of there! >:(

Hopefully this won't be the wedge in they need, then slowly start adding more to the list.

It also screws up people with C&R license.

Looks like this would stop the importing of guns that the Untied States has exported to other countries for use.  That means those Korean War Garands sitting in storage in Korea aren't gonna come home, or any other guns we've exported.

Obama is a fricken asshat!

Now, now.  The site owner said we should not offend the 2A Obamugabe voters because somewhere, there might be a democrat that might timidly support gun rights.

I say, a pox on that.  Zero and his minions have shown their true colors.  It sure as hell is nothing but treason as far as I can tell.

how is this going to affect us exactly? it seems it only targets surplus weapons that the U.S. has given to other countries but wouldn't Mosins still be legal since they are domestic to Russia/China etc. I'm pretty sure most surplus AKs Mosins, Mausers, SKS, CZs Tokarevs etc aren't affected. am i reading this exec. order wrong? someone please help me out with this as i JUST sent my application in for a C&R license and i hope the supply of said firearms will be untouched by this bullshit. so pretty much it's the M1As and garands that are getting fucked here right?

If they are using senator frankenbitch terminology, then yes; anything of military grade will be effected. Because the mosin is technically a military rifle, and because it can have a bayonet attached to it, it has the potential to be considered a within this category, along with any domestic military surplus from the former soviet union. That means all our C&R licenses will be worth shit.

but the order says AMERICAN weapons that were once shipped out to other countries can no longer be shipped back to the U.S. to private entities i.e. private gun owners. that sounds to me like all foreign military weapons are fair game. also when will this take effect? they can't just throw this on us. there's at least 10 surplus guns i want to get, i havent even gotten my C&R in the mail yet! and executive orders are only enacted until the president who issued them is out of office right?

Here's the petition that's been initiated to retract the executive order against the re-importation of U.S. military firearms. However, it requires creating a WhiteHouse.gov account to sign it.

"This petition is for the retraction of the Executive Action, announced 08/29/2013, which would prohibit the re-importation of former U.S. military firearms for sale to U.S. citizens. The primary firearms that this would impact are the U.S. M1 Garand and Carbine rifles, prized by collectors, competitive sports shooters, and "plinkers" who are interested in U.S. military history. These are NOT the type of firearms that have been associated with crimes. This Executive Action will solve no firearms-related problems, is political grandstanding at its worst, and only serves to discriminate against legitimate firearms collectors."

I watched a documentary on the "Ice Man" serial killer/mob hitman.  He used a Carbine in a mob hit once.  Aside from that, never heard of either being used.
It is what it is.
