Both are very beautiful guns but I can't make up my mind.

That's a tough choice if you haven't handled them side by side--it would be nice to be able to compare the weight and balance of both revolvers.

Both are nice. But what are you looking to do with them

. If you are looking to compete in the Distinguished Revolver Matches, Pro Series would be disqualified due to being "Custom" guns. They are also too big for IDPA.

If you just want to punch paper, plink steel, or hunt they would fit the bill.

I tried both guns but felt the same to me. I'm planning to use it to shoot paper and hunt. I'm going to take the hunting class on 11/19. So I can't use the pro series for competition and what about the 6" classic? I'm planning to run down to Young Guns and get it now but my friend told me to wait for the gun show in October maybe there will lots of good deals.

You might want to get the 6" barrel if they both feel the same to you.

A lot of places have a 6" minimum barrel length requirement to use a particular pistol for hunting.

I just uploaded the pic for the 6" barrel classic and it is $110 cheaper than 5"pro series. 6" does looks very classy and the 5" pro series looks very modern.  Have you guys been to gun shows? Do they have good deals?

i believe the shortest barrel you can hunt with on oahu for handguns is 4.5 for revolvers so either gun would be okay to take on a hunt.

6".  I mean, really, both are long barrels for a pistol.  You really don't gain anything by buying the more expensive gun.  If you're gonna go long, go long!
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Longer barrels usually create better accuracy and higher velocities.

I like the look of the classic better. But it appears the pro can hold 1 more round.

Thank you all for the valuable advice. It seems like everyone here like the classic revolver better than the pro series. I went to Koko head this afternoon, a gentleman next to me was shooting a 686 classic w/ 7 rounds and he said he said go with the 686 classic over the pro series. I'm going to head down to Young Guns tomorrow and get the 686 classic but with 7 rounds which is $20 extra. It seems YG have the best price on the island with the 7% promotion. I'm not going to wait for deals during next month's the gun show.
