A sailboat, a bunch of fishing gear and rum, and a few stripper/escort/massage parlor girls onto the boat for the trip.  For those few times Id need to come onto shore for stuff, Id want this...

How do you guys feel about leaving your mags loaded for extended periods (months) at a time? I have a bunch of Magpul PMAGS loaded up for my M4 in my safe. I doubt they would not work when needed. Just wondering your thoughts.
Relax, I've banned myself..

I'm not a "Gunologist" but do you think mag spring tension would be a factor after awhile? Of course upon emergency loading a mag vs a mag already loaded is sketchy.. Mines are unloaded for safety reasons with my kids, or maybe I'm just not comfortable with a loaded mag.. Good question Chuck...

Maybe I should optest some of my PMAGS that have been chilling (loaded) for a while now. I think they will fire perfectly fine....guess we will see.

I was following that very debate for a while until I finally reached this article that said workers who were tearing down old buildings found a loaded gun hidden in the walls somewhere in Germay, they went to the back of the house and shot it all without a problem.

Not just that article convinced me, but my "google research" as a whole.

Ruger 10/22, aimpoint micro, suppressor, drum mags............ultimate zombie killer, especially if you are in a large city.  Transportation.........probably a couple of horses.

What really scares me is how some seem serious about a zombie invasion.  :wtf:

Having topics like this (on every "gun site") perpetuate the idea that gun owners are cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

How do you guys feel about leaving your mags loaded for extended periods (months) at a time? I have a bunch of Magpul PMAGS loaded up for my M4 in my safe. I doubt they would not work when needed. Just wondering your thoughts.
I've shot mags that were loaded and stored from the Vietnam era without any problems. If it's a good quality mag, the reduction in spring tension is minimal even after 40-50 years.

From what I've researched, the springs wear out more from being stressed and unstressed repeatedly (loading and unloading) rather than being left in one static position (either loaded or unloaded)   This makes sense because a magazine spring by nature is always under pressure even in its unloaded state.

Either way, springs are cheap and relatively easy to replace.  Better to have the rounds ready and not need them, than need them and not have them.

After reading a little bit, this is what I believe. I know i have shot some mags that were loaded for several months. I have a couple that have been loaded up for about a year now, so going to shoot them and see whats up.

I'd expect that they'd work perfectly fine, but let us know the results.

For a zombie invasion, I would want to have all my fattest friends around me so I would have a chance to get away.

Hahaha
