I also shot only 5 shots at the silhouette side
until i read the rules that were posted on the wall
and it said up to 10 shots
reading the rules really helps.

Lol. True. Guess i should of learned how to read in school

Is it generally crowded on the silhouette side?

In can be but not as bad as the rifle side.   I seem to always get a spot at the pistol & silhouette sides. Rifle seems to always be full.

increased hours at the range seems to have lessened crowding
college and NFL football has helped too

i like the silhouette side,
loading 10 rounds goes twice as fast.

Yup. My ammo was disappearing fast so i put 1 mag away and just used 2. Loading  only 5 at the range has its benefits.

Try go Schofield, loading 30 or 40 round mags and rapid firing. You going say wtf, I just did 500 rounds in one hour.
Google it cause every question is a dumb question.

Lol. Can the public go to scholfield as long as someone sponsors us on?  Or is it for military only?

Civilians can go as long as they are sponsored by a member, military or civilian.

A couple of friends and I went to the silhouette range this weekend. I knew the Range is  privately owned but I just assumed that the rules were the same as the pistol side. Anyway I found out that pistols can be loaded to capacity. all  10 rounds and rifles can be loaded to 10 rounds. Unlike the pistol and rifle range where you can only live five.  Just thought I tell everyone who didn't already know

the silhouette range is privately owned?  really? wow, how the heck?

I have no idea who runs it. Someone on this for must know. All i know is its ran by a club which is why they charge $5 to shoot and regulate their own rules.

I'd love to shoot the steel with a 357/38 lever gun as well.  That would be a lot of fun.  Not really sure why they don't allow it and I was surprised that they don't.  Seems logical to allow a pistol caliber lever gun.

Well, you could join the Hawaii SASS (cowboy action shooting group).  We shoot metal the last Sunday of each month in one of the action bays.

From kokohead website:

The Handgun Metallic Silhouette range is operated by the Hawaii Metallic Silhouette Shooters Association.  Metal targets from 50m - 200m.  Any caliber handgun.  .22 rimfire rifles may be fire on this range.

I do the majority of my shooting on that side with my sw mp15-22.  Not only is it cheaper than the target area, but I have much more fun shooting silhouettes than targets.
