Meat Processing?????
« on: September 24, 2013, 10:51:10 PM »
Hey guys what's goin on. Newbie here. I am about to get into bow hunting here on oahu(pigs of course) and had a few questions. I've hunted most of my life, grew up in south Texas. So pigs are no stranger to me. The only problem I may run into and my wife actually brought it up is that I live in military housing and with the way society is nowadays I believe it's against policy to clean wildlife at my home. Which sux, it used to be normal to drive down a street back home and see pigs and deer strung up getting cleaned. But, I guess I'll try without getting in trouble. But if that doesn't work is there areas near the hunting lands I can clean an process my kill or if not is there any processing stores on oahu. And something we used to do back home once we filled our freezers, do the homeless shelters and places alike accept the meat?  :shaka:

You can use my yard for one back leg quarter and half the ribs.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

What I do is dress and process out in the field.

1) kill pig
2) hang
3) skin
4) cut my slabs and joints and put em in pillow cases and put the pillow cases in trashbags so it doesn't get gross
5) leave the carcass & entrails in the field for the other pigs to eat (most of the time it'll be gone by the next day, creating more pigs). RECYCLE!
5) wash em real well when I get home
6) LAU LAU!

with pig hunting this is super common practice and accepted as long as the carcass isn't being dumped next to the road or entry poitns. not cool if you're hunting goats etc in the drier areas where there aren't pigs to recylce.
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. - 2 Kings 2:23-24

King- haha if it comes to that I'll let you know. And Deep, thanks for the info. I'll have to make sure I have everything with me when I go out.
