Lawmakers and Police Push for Makiki Neighborhood Crime Watch
 

Doing double shift tomorrow so won't be able to attend. 6pm - 7:30pm.

Yeah I work the night shift, so I can't hit it up -- otherwise I would go just to ask about concealed carry lol.

I actually wish I can go to it. Something about "see crime, call police, watch woman being raped in her home for 5 minutes" just doesn't fly with me. Unless it's a program to encourage intervening such acts? I'm pretty sure it's not as everyone is deliberately disarmed. I remember reading somewhere that Carlisle said MAYBE it would've been justified to shoot the Tupuola killer. Is it about gathering up a posse to intervene while poorly equipped against a potentially armed and dangerous criminal?  Again this seems unlikely. Or is this just a feel-good measure to give a false "sense of security"? Perhaps this is simply a move to convince the disarmed herd that CCW is not necessary when the subject comes up in the future? Aaaaaaaah.

Interesting program....My neighborhood recently experienced a huge surge in drug activity, with one "neighbor" openly and brazenly dealing from his front yard or driving around making deliveries. After multiple attempts to get the police to "do something" the "good" neighbors organized a meeting with the Community Policing division. We already have a "Neighborhood watch" program and were advised that we should work with the police to improve things. It was suggested that we walk around the neighborhood wearing bright yellow t-shirts and let the "bad guys" know we were working in close conjunction with the police. We were also encouraged to report "suspicious activity" (which we were already doing) to build a case.

One night while walking the dog with the GF I observed a rather obvious drug transaction take place. I recorded the license plate of the vehicle picking up his order and the driver saw me. He turned around and confronted me, asking why I had taken his license plate down. He then proceed to the driveway of the drug dealer to let him know. Drug dealer walks down the street to confront me as well, ultimately threatening me as he trudged back to his house. So, the police were contacted and a very helpful and sympathetic [sarcasm] female officer arrived to take the report. Besides just being a bitch in general, she said I shouldn't have been so "obvious" in getting the guys license plate number. I just thought it was interesting that we were encouraged to be very obvious walking around the neighborhood wearing neon yellow shirts, but I was admonished by officer bitch to not be obvious when getting information.....Great program....do I need the sarcasm thingy again?
