No balls;

800lb gurilla standing, ready to pounce on that issue.  It's pretty much set already, nothing will come of this.

Not from what I saw, mentioned the Arizona shooting and tied it to the homeless effort.

Well, I didn't hear the speech, but I did look at some out takes.
Looks like he pretty much avoided all hard issues, including gun control, and ran straight down the middle.
Set up for his run at reelection, I suppose.  :P

I don't know why people thought he would touch gun control.  That shit is a losing battle.  The retard in AZ killed tons of people, and hit one of their own, nothing has come, nor do I expect it to come, of it at all.   Gun owners toss LOTS of money at this stuff.  The NRA wins elections, and costs people their careers.  President Clinton even stated this fact himself.

I will be a lunch out -- we only see pro gun measures come out of the Federal Senate and House for the next two-years.  Obama has essentially denounced gun control; that subject was even taken off of their campaign missions.

White House to push gun control

"Obama intentionally did not mention gun control in his State of the Union, but aides say that in the next two weeks the administration will unveil a campaign to get Congress to toughen existing laws."

Take it for what it is I guess!

It says toughen EXISTING laws......but we all know where that's going to lead.

I would have to disagree with gun control being denounced or that no new anti-gun legislation will take place.. I would say not only will it get worse, but as we have already witnessed firsthand, they are now going after Ammo in an attempt to disrupt or dissuade gun ownership/usage.. I predict new taxes on firearms, ammo, supplies, etc, as a new tactic as well..  Guns are something that I believe ignorant people will try to demonize and do away with for the rest of time.. It's a huge topic and one that I believe future generations will be dealing with for a long time to come..

We are talking nationally, not in Hawaii.

The bill for this stuff only had 42 sponsors, with *NO* republican support in the house.  That means, it goes no where.

While I agree with most of what was said, the notion that the NRA wins elections does not hold true all the time. If I remember correctly in 2008 elections when Republicans lost big time, a ,majority of NRA backed politicians were defeated. News pundits and contributors even mentioned that in 2008 the fear of a gun ban was not enough to help NRA candidates because majority of the population was more concerned about the economy. Yes the NRA is a powerful force in politics and has given Republicans a giant helping hand and a swift kick in the butt for anti-gun liberal Democrats but we can't win them all.

I'm not saying this because I hate the NRA or feel it isn't effective; I just don't think it's safe to feel safe about our 2nd Amendment rights being invulnerable with the notion the NRA will defeat any and all comers.

No senators have come forward with anything, that I have seen.

We are not worried about gun control coming from the House. It won't pass.  That's not to say we take the threats and bills lightly, it's just a straightforward opinion.  Clinton will tell you (and publicly stated so), NRA costs people elections.
NRA is easily the largest and most powerful political lobby in the country, that may change with the Citizens United decision, but, for now, its the truth.
