Where to buy Kroil [Oahu]
« on: October 01, 2013, 05:45:32 PM »
Does anyone know of a local retailer on Oahu that sells Kroil products? I know it is available on the net from various places just looking to find it on island before I go to the net.

Thanks in advance.

Aerosol or non-aerosol? I don't make it down that way much I guess next time I go to the range I can stop in. Thanks

Pretty sure that Sec Equip has Kroil in liquid or aerosol.  Give em a call.  Don't know the price.

That's right, didn't think about that.  Maybe Slim's Power Tools, Grainger, Fastenal?

i think you can purchase as an individual but the price is higher (not wholesale).  The place I work had an account with Grainger and the guy at the counter let me use their name and discount on the reciept but charged to my personal credit card.

I have bought a few items from Grainger.  The guy behind the counter did ask who I work for.  I usually dropped what ever name of company I was working for at the time.

And the best thing is that you can visit Young Guns right down the street.  it is a win-win situation.

People swear by its ability to get into crevices to losen rusted parts.  Kreeping + oil = Kroil.  Hard to test the effectiveness vs other products though because each frozen bolt is different.  the mechanics where I work use it so I tend to use.

lots of reviews online.

Okay.  I wrench for a living, I tend to grab PB Blaster first.  Then PB Blaster with the Oxy/Acetylene torch.

If it is a sensitive/high dollar item I usually grab the Mouse Milk.  The boss is ready to run out on the shop floor when one pushes the Oxy/Acetylene torch kit next to a turbine engine.

i also use pb blaster..

is kroil that much more effective? i tried ordering online once or twice but the companies wouldnt ship it and i kind of forgot about it since i havent had a real need for it recently.
anyone with first hand experience think its worth the higher price of kroil in hawaii?

I have a co-worker that swears by Kroil, hence we purchase a case or so at a time for him.  Granted, I will not go across the job site just for my can of PB Blaster.  If a can of Kroil is closer, I will use it.  But like I mentioned I prefer to use PB Blaster and/or combine it with the torch.  IMO Mouse Milk is worth the high cost, but just use it for those big dollar rebuilds/repairs.

Thanks SEC normally caries it but they are out of stock.

No go on Aloha Power Equip., i called a few other places and no one carries it.

That's right, didn't think about that.  Maybe Slim's Power Tools, Grainger, Fastenal?

Slim's nope, stopped by Grainger and it is not a stocked item they order it from Kano Labs. as needed.

I am curious as to what is great about Kroil?

I have some corrosion on a barrel/receiver and a trusted gunsmith friend of mine said to use Kroil and a rough cotton rag or 0000 steel wool as needed to remove the rust. I have never used it before ever, I cannot speak to its greatness.

I am also in Aviation Maint. and wrench for a living, thanks for the lead on the Mouse Milk I have never heard of that before. I use PB Blaster often enough but I have yet to have to use The Blue Wrench on a aircraft or engine yet....

Thanks for all of the possible leads guys. I would rather not debate the merits of Kroil just wondering where I can defiantly buy it local.

I placed an order with the manufacturer last night and they go back to me this morning to let me know it would cost $42.50 per package plus air charges for $22.25 worth of product. They suggested that I contact Maguire Bearing Co. Ltd., tel:808-847-3531 their local distributer here in Honolulu. I plan on contacting Maguire today I will keep you all posted.

I thought a little update for this thread would be in order. I went to Maguire Bearing Company, Limited's Kapolei location in Campbell Industrial Park and purchased a 10 ounce aerosol can of Aero Kroil for $21.49 it was a bit pricey but it should last a long time. They also have the one gallon non-aerosol can for $96 if I remember correctly. The gallon was more than I think I could use in my lifetime, I would get one and split it into 16 eight ounce portions and resell them though. Maguire Bearing has its main location in Kalihi Kai and neighbor island locations.

It took care of the rust that I wanted to remove, I am happy with it thus far.

Anyone try this?  This thread reminded me about this product but I've never used it.
