Anyone used Duracoat?
« on: October 13, 2013, 08:41:10 PM »
Anyone tried using Duracoat on your firearm? I was thinking of painting my 10/22 Camo TD. I wanted to paint the barrel, rail, rings, and trigger. Are there any concerns when painting a picatinny mount and trigger?

Its gonna scratch off easily where u clamp the scope.  I'd avoit painting any action areas and trigger group.   And of course avoid the barrel crown. Other wise its okay stuff.

Dex at xring was doing ceracote, also try moores tactical on the vendor list.  Seems to be the longer lasting more durable solution.   The make a small "single" use kit that if I'm not mistaken kgs brought in, might wanna talk to Daniel.

Cerakote wears better than Duracoat and is similar in wear to Alumahyde II.  Downside to cerakote is that when it chips or gets scratches it isn't a simple fix.  You need to strip the part which is a PITA and start from scratch.  The others can be fixed with a light sand over the damaged area and go over the old coat.

Had my Glock slide Cerakoted from Moore's Tactical.  Fine job and FAST!  Turn around time was 3 days!  If you not happy with the job, they'll redo it no questions asked!  AWESOME bunch of guys!

Thanks. I called Moore's Tactical and will bring down my rifle one day. He said he's not sure about the trigger though but will need to see it first.
