What do you think is the best ammo for 22lr regardless of price? Please list them in numbered order. Also what makes it a match ammo for 22lr?
Google it cause every question is a dumb question.

I got this essentially for free. Supposed to measure the rim thickness and match each ammo accordingly to size.

try um.............it may make not so good ammo better.......... but if these things work so good smallbore, br shooters would not waste money on top of the line ammo.

it comes down to what are your expectations as far as accuracy and are your other pieces of equipment (ammo, rifle, sights, shooter) capable of that accuracy.

keepum centered.................... :thumbsup:

1:Eley Tenex Ultimate EPS
2:Lapua Midas Plus
3:RWS R 50
4:Lapua Center X
5:Lapua Polar Biathlon
CCI AND FEDERAL MATCH are not even in the same ball park as these. If you can find some ELEY sportor SK Standard PLUS cheap it is excellent ammo at the same price as CCI or federal (Give or Take $20  per 500) and in my guns shoots way better.
Shooting it through my CZ 453, Savage BRJ, anschutz  1913.

I once traded for a brick of that Eley the match shooters all love so much.  It would not cycle ANY of my semi-autos!

It's taken me several years, but after extensive (and I do mean extensive) testing, I migrated to exclusively CCI standard velocity.  Not because it was the most accurate, but because it was the best-shooting that met my three simple criteria:
1. Must function reliably in every .22 I own;
2. Must have reasonable accuracy;
3. Must cost no more than $0.10/round (this was pre-Obamascare)

I used to stock several different types of .22 ammo, not quite one for each gun, but nearly so.  I finally got fed up with that, and began my quest.  CCI SV was the grail.  Not good enough to be the Holy Grail, just a garden-variety grail, but a grail nonetheless.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

The best 22lr ammo order still stays the same order. When you think of Match ammo you don't think of semi auto. Hardly any of the Grade A+ ammo works well in semi's.
I suppose he should have posted what is was for.  If you want  accuracy buy a bolt gun. Or spend $500 to get a 10-22 too shoot almost as good as a $400 savage or CZ.
Needless to say i can shoot most my match ammo just fine in my browning buckmark target. without issue.

I have two 10/22's, a Ruger Single Six, a Ruger MkIII, and an M&P15-22.  As far as the cheapest that shoots reliably in all of them (that I've tried so far), American Eagle.

I USED to have a Sig Mosquito, but I gave it away after a few months...Only CCI Minimags would cycle that POS.

As mentioned, CCI Minimags.

I've also had excellent results with copper tip/plated Federal high velocity stuff that looks a lot like the CCI Minimags and are about the same price.  I'd have to look to see if I kept the container.

I think everybody has just strayed off the point of original posters question. "WHAT IS THE BEST 22LR  REGARDLESS OF COST" and just defaulted to the ammo that works in everybody's semi auto rifle.  Most people have tried  CCI and found it to work satisfactory in there weapons and be content with that.  But the case remains that you will almost never even shoot a 3 inch group of 5 at a 100 yards with the stuff ( if ÿour damn lucky) because of the fact that after 50 yds give or take it goes from Supersonic to  subsonic and changes flight path slightly. Also the ever present fliers.

The big question is what are you using the ammo for. Plinking yes CCI will work awesome in everything pretty much.  The most accurate ammo will always be a subsonic round past 50 yds,and come in a small box of 50 that cost more then 10.00 per. With that being said. I do think CCI is the best general purpose ammo out there.

Goes without saying. He was just asking about the ammo though.  If you don't know what you are doing just buy bulk ammo, and be happy to be on the paper somewhere. :geekdanc:
