meeting people that you met on the internet in real life
« on: October 27, 2013, 09:35:35 PM »
some of you know i have an H&K P30
so i hang out on hkpro.com
there is a user there, that posts occasionally, that has in his posting profile that he lives in kaneohe, oahu
so one time, i sent him a pm through hkpro
turns out he lives right down the road from my office
he is an HDF member, but only lurks on 2aHI
we have been pming each other about various things, and i have been trying to get him to come to a range day
so this weekend, he came at the very end of the day after going to the bullseye side to zero his new revolvers
he brought his HK P7 that he bought years ago and is his "bed gun"
looked brand new
for those of you that don't know, the HK P7 in some circles is a "grail gun"
it has a unique design with a fixed barrel and a gas chamber
it has a low bore axis and a flat recoil
so this guy, that i barely know, lets me shoot his great condition "grail gun"
first mag 7/8 on aiea78's steel target
second mag 8/8
was only hitting 7 or 8/10 with my own gun!
it was a great experience, and i really appreciate the chance to try out a P7 in real life
and to meet bald dave in real life
mahalo dave

With arthritis the squueze hurts.

Btw its a squeeze cock gun. So the cool factor is just weird

Hiding from the sun in the shade at the end of the day it certainly was enjoyable hearing you guys ring that steel!  :D
There will be more fun targets soon.

yeah, but there a lots of squeeze cock guns (not that there's anything wrong with it) out there
there are fewer fixed barrels and gas systems in centerfire pistols

and i do admit, the "grail gun" factor only comes into play if you are an HK nerd, so it is weird

Glad you liked it Steve.  It was nice to meet you and the other guys.  And, it was fun to let the P7 run a little.

I purchased the gun new in 1999 for $1300 (I think).  It was my favorite gun for many years.  It's a badass little gun.  I recently changed out the original sights to something that can give more accuracy at 25 yards.

I purchased the SIg in 1990 and also upgraded the sights back in May.  These groups were from sighting in after the sights were installed.  They were my last 3 shots fired with each gun.  I had a trigger job on the 226 and that gun is amazing now.

I don't think you can go wrong with a P7.

Everything must have been right that day.   I put it on bags yesterday and it wasn't grouping like that.  I know my vision has taken a turn for a worse since then.  Oh well, it's all good.

I lost a competition using one.  That adds to my dislike.

I forgot the mags for my regular pistol I use. And had to
Use the p7m8 for day.

So it's my opinion only.
