Honolulu Community College told students and faculty that a suspicious individual was seen near the school Tuesday and is advising people to stay away from campus until further notice.

Honolulu police told campus security that the man is wearing khaki shorts and possibly carrying a rifle.  The man is also not wearing a shirt.

HCC says there is no indication that the man is on campus.  However, the administration is asking those on campus to be on the lookout and call 911 or campus security at 808-284-1270 immediately.

Looks like a false alarm.

All-clear given by police after reports of possibly dangerous man near HCC campus

An alert that was issued to students and faculty members at Honolulu Community College about a potentially dangerous man near campus has been lifted, according to Chancellor Erika Lacro.

At just after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Honolulu Community College warned people near campus about a man who was is possibly in possession of a rifle.

The following is the text of the alert on the Honolulu Community College

This is not a test. HPD has advised campus security that a male wearing khaki shorts, no shirt, and possibly carrying a rifle maybe in the Honolulu CC area. There is no indication that the male has entered campus; however, Honolulu CC Administration is advising you to be on the look out for said individual and contact 911 or campus security (808-284-1270) immediately.

At 10:55 a.m., HPD declared an all-clear and deemed the situation safe.

I saw someone out in their yard waving around what appeared to be a glock (it looked like a handgun) and it almost caused me to cause a 43 car pileup.  Turns out it was a false alarm and the guy was just watering his plants with a spray nozzle.   

If people were allowed to protect themselves in this state and weren't just a bunch of liberal pussies we wouldn't be hearing stories like this. 

There was supposed to be some kind of drill today. That same drill turned out to be a real situation of an armed man somewhere around HCC.

News reports say report was made by an anonymous caller. Security guards were questioned about seeing a person with a rifle. No eye witnesses.

HNN says the live situation took place at around the same time the drill was to take place. Seems fishy to me.

I was in class when a student informed the teacher to the alert.  Everyone was freaking out and I couldn't help but smile at everyone's piss-their-pants fear.  Should something have happened in my classroom, I hope I wouldn't have been the only one who refused to be a victim...

I also thought it strange when I saw that there was a "This Is A Test" email just prior to the MWAG alert.
