I know it's been defeated before but this bill keeps coming back.

I'm curious though; what if this bill passes for some ungodly reason (hell Civil Unions passed under the Dems), what would it entail? Every .50 Cal weapon in Hawaii would have to be surrendered or confiscated or will they be "grandfathered"?

I'm asking because I've been putting the purchase of a .50 cal rifle off for a while, partly due to funds but also worried that if the bill passes, I would end up spending $10,000+ on a Barrett only to have it taken away with NO compensation payment or refund.

Well, people don't have to surrender property without due process.  You could fight it in court first.

If I remember correctly, reading it when it was first brought to my attention months ago.  you wouldnt have to surrender it, you couldnt transfer it in state,  you wouldnt be able to buy ammo in state.

If they were to ban big .50's, if you have to surrender it or not, the ban would effectively make that rifle useless.  Where would you be able to use it?  If they don't confiscate, you would not be able to use it at any public facility, and even if you take it out in the bush somewhere, if you are spotted by LE, you would hassled relentlessly.  You will have to reload your ammunition.

It would be like if you owned an assault pistol before they banned them.  You'll have it, but you cannot give it to your kids, you can't sell it to anyone in state, and you can't use it anywhere.

Very dangerous law!  Even if you don't want one, or ever think you will get one, I would fight this law to the end.  They are taking your rights one small piece at a time.
