I'm down to help any way I can. I got a extra welder we can use as well if needed.

If Mike Muramoto and the team are open to suggestions, the ultimate thing on my wish list would be the ability to setup pistol frames at 10-15 yards.  Not sure if there is some reason why they would deem this unsafe, or if it won't be possible as the pistol range won't be closed, but in case they are willing to listen, that would make a HUGE difference to me and the people I go shooting with.  I know too many people who get discouraged at their inability to get consistent hits at 25yds, especially when starting out.

Am guessing we may not want to get too pushy about "changes" but I'm sure we could come up with a way for this to be done safely.  Maybe that means wood bases to hold the frames, smaller specifically constructed frames (no bolts?), whatever...

Would be excited to chip in and help however possible for such additional changes as well as help along with the group.

Would it be feasible to recommend upgrades, like a divider between all pistol positions to block flying brass?  Dpesn't have to be solid.  A frame with some netting would work.

I wonder if that has ever been suggested?  Every indoor range I have used has a large divider to keep the brass in your area.  Makes sweeping your own brass easier, too.

+1 to gmau's suggestion.  I would love to finish up my NRA / Winchester pistol certification requirements by having the ability to set up 10 yard targets.
I think, therefore I am armed.

Hmm actually, I'm mistaken... the pistol qualification says to set up targets at 15 feet (or 5 yards).

Couldn't we use something similar to the rifle range stands since the targets are so close?

Mac,

What time is the town meeting tomorrow?

I still feel we need to somehow inquire if people donate supplies and/or monies, if the mayor will allow them to be used to buy the materials for the range. All they have to do is get an ok, designate a trustworthy individual into the position...ahemMACahem.....and have the general pool fund to buy the needed materials.

Don't see why donations made specifically for the range would have to go to the club, as HDF donations and range donations would be 2 completely different things.

If the mayor wouldn't ok direct range donations, we could create our own donation pool and use this money to buy the materials. Not sure how many people are in HDF, but we had 40+ individuals at the last range day. If every single one of these people donated just $10 to the range fund, that would be $400 we could use to buy our own supplies. You gotta remember that anything that doesn't take money from the state will always win the favor of the people, as they feel that their taxes won't be 'wasted' on something they may have no interest in.

Just a thought.

meeting is 6-8 pm
we are looking in to ways of accepting donations of cash
there is a group investigating a community development corp (think "friends of khsc")
HDF will likely be able to accept monetary donations for the cleanup, but details are still being worked out

one thing at a time, q
we're need to make this cleanup even happen first before we start planning the next step

yeah
if we pull this cleanup day off, then we can start to propose changes, perhaps even making them happen ourselves
but right now we have no credibility with the city and the range
let's work on the cleanup first
