Puuloa rifle range REC FIRE DEC 21st IS A GO
« on: December 10, 2013, 07:42:53 PM »
DO NOT CALL THE MARINE CORPS RANGE CONTROL ABOUT GENERAL PUBLIC USE OF PUULOA!!!!!   This was a Puuloa Club sponsored event.

UPDATE:  PUULOA RIFLE RANGE IS A GO FOR SATURDAY DECEMBER 21st.

Read the guide and info sheet attached.

Zippz and myself will be in charge of the rifle range on that day.
Plan to have range hot at 9:00 AM and last shot at 11:45 AM on Dec. 21 (Saturday)
Be there by 8:15 AM for sign in, range brief, orientation.
There will be a fee to pay for the guards and supplies, around $10.
We are guests of the Marine Corps. proper attire and behavior will be enforced. No smoking or tobacco on the range.
Calibers limited 30/06 in caliber and ballistics.
No rapid firing i.e. mag dumps
More to be briefed at the range.
Required items:
•   Eye protection
•   Ear protection
•   Water
•   Open bolt indicator

The open shoot will be like Kokohead where shooters will be responsible for setting up and spotting their own targets. Paper targets only. Silhouettes are allowed. You will be utilizing club target frames so bring stapler, tape or spray glue tape for fastening targets to the frame.
We plan to shoot starting from the 100 yard line to the 200 yard line within the time allotted.

Remember it is a bit of a walk, there is no cover and no benches so bring the appropriate gear. i.e. good spotting scope, range cart.

Safety rules and procedures will be briefed and enforced. Everyone is a safety officer. If you violate it you will not get yelled at like Kokohead but will be removed from the range.

PM Ren with your name, email address, & phone number if you are committed to attending. I will consolidate into an email distro list.

Roger, limited to max ballistics and caliber of a 30-06.  I'll try and gather a few more people and start the coordination.  I have to find another volunteer to help me run the range.

Anyone ever shot .22lr at 200 yards there?  With the winds there would that be safe?  Don't want to be flying rounds all over downrange.

I'm still working the planning and coordination for the range.  I'm looking at Saturday December 21st 8am-12pm.  Most likely will keep it as a simple recreational fire day shooting at the 100 and 200 yard lines shooting from any position and optics, bipods, etc..  Can save the longer distances for future dates.  Bring your own paper/silhouette targets if you want.  Rifles 30-06 and below.

I still have to reserve the range, get the club pres blessing,  and some other resources.

Do you have to be active military, LE, or know someone to get access?

No.

However military get a cheaper fee and can become club members easier.  Civilians can become club members, but there is a waiting list as we can only take on so many at a time.

I proposed no pit service. Shooters will set up their own targets, spot for themselves and clean up after themselves - like Kokohead. That way we have more time shooting and can accommodate more shooters.I suggested starting at 100 yards for about 15-20 min shooting time then about 10 mins for target repairs for about two iterations then head back to 200 - repeat till noon. If it does materialize shooters will be responsible for bringing their own targets, staple gun or spray glue to affix to target frames, a good spotting scope, water and food plus any other supplies they need. Again just like shooting at Kokohead. Since this is a .mil range silhouettes may be permitted.
