Exactly. Every reason given in this thread was argued, not debated over by Piers. He argues with emotions and tries to rile up his audience. He was owned by some aggressive, sharp individuals. The never ending rabbit hole is that "Why stop there, how about a tank, a nuke?!!"
While owning a tank and a nuke might be a little overkill for some. If it is legal, WHY NOT???? We are Americans. We are exceptional because of who we are and where we live and the Republic we live in. We are creative and strong and resilient. What other country is as great as ours? We are not perfect by any means. And there is a lot we can improve on. But taking away firearms is a proven way of making a bad situation worse. And that is a fact even Piers Morgan cannot argue with without lying and/or not telling the whole truth.

I can't say I would really want a nuke, but if I had the money a tank is not out of the question!

Why do you feel the need to derail the point of this thread to bash on AR's?  You must need attention don't you...  Good for you.  You don't like the most popular rifle in America, congrats on being different.

Found this.

I don't mean to offend.... Yes... Not everyone needs an AR15....Used the rifle alot in the 80's.... But

Much of the popular AR15 culture is a lot like the street racer/custom motorcycle club culture... It no longer becomes the most efficient tool of the trade, but rather a cheap (and sometimes expensive) piece of jewlery to wear.

No offense taken.  I beg to differ and I bet it would come down to personal preference, but we can have a AR vs xxx some other thread (I'm almost positive there is one already)  :shaka:

Actually, the AR-15 is only a symbol for what the left hates and what we hold dear. It really doesn't matter if it is an AR-15, AK 47, Garand, M14, or a Ruger Charger. If the government tells us we can't own one then we should all own two.

Old schoolers concidered 5.56/.223 a varmint round, not to be taken seriously.

AR: The typical noob's favorite first gun. After a 9mm Glock, of course.

Their dream, one (or several) of each.

Kinda hard to take them seriously when the typical Koko Head noob's goal is to see how many rails they can add, and how much stuff they can put on, and how much black crap they can add, and still they perforate their target stands despite all the accessorizing and money spent. I swear I have to check to see that they aren't shooting shotgun on the rifle side the way the paper looks. But what do I know? Everyone has to start somewhere, I guess, and kids these days just can't be fortunate enough to start out with an iron sight'ed bolt gun and some tin cans out back. Or squirrels and an autoloader. Gotta go with the fashionable AR rigs.

Thank god we don't have those typical noobs on 2aHI though. The AR fans here are far more sophisticated and better shooters that didn't learn how to shoot from Facebook and video games.

ARs certainly have their place and their fan base--kinda like Camaros, I guess, the noobs like them ,but folks who know buy something (anything) better, and with heritage/soul-- but I certainly don't miss having one and don't really see why anyone needs one when we all know that all you ever need, ever, is 10+1 of 45ACP.  ;D

Exactly, as I said .... " for my taste"

I collect and shoot old battle rifles and have no interest in an AR15.... But I'd sell a kidney for an STG 43/44

Funny bass monkey, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

As far as why anyone would "need" an AR, it's beside the point. If I want one, can afford one, and am responsible for my own actions with said weapon, what business of yours is it what I have? Piss off and tend to your own business, don't worry about mine.

In other words, live and let live. In this country, it's our right, guaranteed by the constitution, to own firearms. There is no limitation set forth in that document.
Up to this point I've never owned one, mainly due to the fact that I'm believer in the old adage "big bullets kill stuff faster". However, my son has finally sold me on the platform and I plan to build a blackout in the coming year. Light, accurate, and a good gun for pigs.

Great.  Let's just insult other gun owners and establish a stereotype of AR owners.  Everyone does have to start somewhere.  Did you offer some advice/guidance to perhaps help a "noob"?  Bet not.  Not everyone is lucky enough to have proper training.  You probably just watched and laughed to yourself about how there are sooo many "noobs" with AR's and how awesome you are.

I admit I have seen new AR owners that probably never shot before(seen guys that don't know how to lock the bolt back manually), but instead of judging them, how about you offer some tips of proper shooting technique or safe gun handling?  Most "noobs" are very receptive to advice.

Hahahahaaa!!! You can stereotype me as a cosmoline geezer.

The "noob" thing comes from the media selling AR15s to clueless consumers, who don't want to fully buy into the responblilty of gun ownership, but don't wanna get left out when they ban it... Gotta by it now or I'll never get one.... Or worse.. The movie fan boys, who bought something, because they saw Chuck use it.

Exactly why he has no support for going into Syria. Remember watching the news it was Barack and Feinstein who wants to go into Syria. Found it funny because that these two wants to sacrifice the lives of our own to help bring down Tyranny in Syria, yet they want to disarm the law abiding citizens of this country.  :wtf:

Thanks for all the interesting points and answers guys. I think my number one reason is honestly to fight tyranny within the government and from oppressors, and a lot of people argue that the 2nd amendment was placed in the constitution so long ago and its outdated and they think we don't have the need for it which I think is false. I believe tyranny is real and its only a matter of time before the lot of America wakes up and sees how real oppression already is, I mean middle class America is gone or going, the talk used to be about what can be done to help the lower class and were so far down the hole they gave up on them cause the middle class is sinking into it too, government is all about take, take, take, take, which leaves us on the bottom with nothing and oppressed. As everyone knows that kinda talk can go on and on and I don't wanna get too far off the thread subject, also I don't want the NSA knocking on my door, Ive already said too much....lol

Haha Im a total newbie yes, troll no. Im a new gun owner and I watch and read a lot of stuff about these kind of issues and while its kinda futile to ask these things on a pro gun forum I was just curious to see how other gun owners felt about these topics. And theres so many things to reply to and I didn't think I would get this much feedback being a newbie also very busy with work and other things so not much time to reply till now but Im definitely taking a lot of it into account and finding a lot of the perspectives very interesting and im able to look at it in ways I never saw. Also I don't have twitter....and the other thread isn't mine.
