Side charging billet upper 'group buy'
« on: December 31, 2013, 04:59:27 PM »
I was wondering if two or more other members would like to do a discounted 'group buy' on an ambi side charging 7075 billet upper with a nib-x bcg.  the discounted price is 369 and i believe it may have free shipping too.

ive been waiting for a cheap LAR grizzly all year and i just got an email from joeboboutfitters saying that LAR still has no timeframe as of now so they are bringing in a new side charging upper instead. looks pretty good to me and they have a pre order price thats $40 off each unit if you buy 3 or more. that comes out to 369 shipped for a billet 7075 ambidextrous side charge upper with a nib bcg and 9310 steel bolt. all positives so far. im a tiny bit reluctant because its a brand new company but thats a great price for the features. supposedly some LAR employees left to form crosshill technology though so its not like its a bunch of guys new to firearms.

i found this on a promotional page for one of their distributors:
"For all you guys that wanted the ops-4 upper and couldn’t get it, here is something better. This is the brand new side charging upper (available in right, left, or Ambi) that CrossHills Technology came up with. The guys at CrossHills have more than 40 years combined experience working on products like the ops-4 upper and receivers for the top manufacturers in the industry. These guys are local and have given us the first opportunity to show off and sale their new product. Ops-4 were forgings, but these guys are making them out of 7075 T6 Billet Alluminum to give you a stronger and more accurate product. This upper includes a Nickel Boron BCG with spots to put the charging handles on either or both sides."

you can charge it with your nose to the old charging handle location. also left hand charging like a fal, or right hand charging like my sig556 or ak47 etc

Familiarity.

I run a lot of AK's.
I'm used to turning my rifle a certain way, charging it a certain way, etc...

It would allow me to operate an AR in exactly the same way as I'm used to.

Oh and I'm a lefty too.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Does it have a last round bolt hold open?
I do like the like the side charging option over the ar style
