Petition Walmart
« on: January 01, 2014, 11:46:51 PM »
Just got an idea today to write to all the Walmart execs asking them to carry ammo in hawaii. With the amount of goods they ship every day I'm sure shipping wouldn't be a problem. I believe we are the only state that they don't sell in

Thoughts?

it is a nice idea but knowing how people hoard on the mainland, once the shipments come in, some jack ass is gonna buy the entire lot outright.  You should see these guys camp out at the mainland walmarts in the middle of the night waiting for shipments to come in, it is pathetic!  That and it is Hawaii so it's not gonna happen.  I'd suggest buying in bulk from OCG tactical, they have great deals (well almost normal mainland prices which is a great deal for Hawaii) when they get shipments in.   :D

I'd rather buy my ammo from a mom and pop than a slaver chain.

screw that; money is money and ammo is ammo, I'd buy from where every has it for the best price.  I don't make enough to be that picky!

It would be nice but you got to factor in shipping cost and hazards material fee and then all the training they have to do for the employes.  I'm sorry but Walmart employe the dumbest people around that don't know shit or give a shit about what they sale.  I would support the LGS as you can ask them questions on the product you're buying.  I wouldn't buy any thing that I might have use to save my life on from Walmart.

Wow, what an over generalization. I know some folks that work at Wal-Mart. Some have gone through tough times and would work anywhere they could earn an honest living. Some are overqualified but work there part time to make ends meet.

I got family that works at wal mart and they sure aren't dumb. You shouldn't let one bad apple let you generalize everyone in the bunch and call them dumb, especially when you have poor grammar...just sayin....

I wrote this to Walmart's corporate contact email from their website on October 18th,

"Aloha,

I am writing to ask why your stores in Hawaii do not carry Firearms or Ammunition, is there as specific policy or reason as to why?

If Walmart is unwilling to carry and sell firearms in Hawaii could you at least consider selling Ammunition? If Walmart would sell Ammunition you would provide a great value and the ultimate in convenience to the residents of Hawaii. Currently besides traditional local gun shops the only national retailer selling Firearms and Ammuniton in the state is The Sports Authority. Living in Hawaii it is difficult and expensive to order Ammunition from mainland retailers, if Walmart were to carry Ammunition it would be very beneficial for everyone.

Mahalo,

dustoff003"

I have not heard anything back from them as of yet.

Good Luck.

i'm sure walmart will sell ammo way cheaper than some people on here that buy from a LGS and resell it here for double the price.

more supply @ the same demand = cheaper ammo prices.

I checked 3 Wal-Marts in Vegas back in December. None of them had .22lr. One of the clerks said the locals know what days shipments come in and they pretty much camp out like Sliver said. Oh ya, and he said you have to be a resident to buy ammo.
I also went to the Bass Pro Shop. Same thing. No 22lr. Very little .223 and 5.56.
Lots of 30-06 and shot gun ammo though.

Hoarding ammo and the guys that stake out stores to buy ALL the ammo will always happen. Most stores now limit purchases which helps a little.

As far as employees; you should know what you're buying and not totally rely on a employees opinion/knowledge or lack of.

The bottom line for me; I welcome another option and place to buy ammo.

I mean no offense to anyone family and love ones but from my experience there most times you walk into that store you get bad service. Time and time again they have disappointed me with their service the only thing that makes me go back is the lemon shine.

And yes I write in bad grammar cause I don't give a fck since this is a fourm and we in Hawaii.  BTW I hold 2 BS from UH Hawaii as well as many certs in different fields. So if you want to call out my grammar then go ahead ...  when I'm online that all mean squat and if you can understand the words I'm trying to communicate to you  then we good. Just saying bro.
