LGS Pricing on Reloading Components

I noticed that the cost of powder and primers in our LGS have jumped by several dollars recently. I haven't had the chance to peruse the catalogs/website of the competing mainland vendors so I thought I'd just throw the question out there for anybody who knows: Has there been a similar increase nationally?

I have noticed a small increase in prices on the mainland. But not the larger amount I have seen on powder and primers here. There are a couple of LGS that I found have held the increases to those similar to on the mainland.

Shipping costs I surmise. Also our LGS are slow to react to the national market - or they don't need to due to our geography.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I'm all for supporting our LGS. Our patronage is a necessity for their survival. However, when I see prices increase over and beyond what the rest of the retailers are doing, it causes me to consider alternatives. Joining group-buys from Powdervalley or starting your own for instance. I know it's  somewhat unfair to compare LGS prices with the prices posted by major online retailers due to the sheer volume of business they do with suppliers and the bargaining power the comes with it, but still.....

I support our LGS with gun purchases and small primer, powder and ammo purchases. But when it comes to large bullet purchases I order from the mainland. That goes for large group orders of primers and powder as well.

I visited J Hara in Kaimuki today and saw a pound of Varget for $45.99 :-\

J. Hara's has a nice selection of reloading components and firearm accessories but it was clear to me when it opened that its prices were above its competition.

I like their store and I understand our situation in Hawaii but I can only support a LGS at a certain price point. 10% above what I can get online and I can't justify the additional expense. Besides some companies will ship stuff like primers here i.e. Sinclair

I like J Hara.  Their prices are high but they have had stuff in stock that I can't find elsewhere. 

They were the only shop that had an extensive supply of various 30-06 ammo and they would ship stuff over from their Hilo store.  I was preparing for an Elk hunt.  After a lot of trial and error I was able to find a 180 grain round that shot well in my gun.  Without them I would have been SOL. 

I have found them to always be friendly and helpful.  I think they are just trying to make a go of it and I hope they succeed.
