actual experience with obamacare- not a joke thread
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:32:07 AM »
so my friend has his first dental patients that have the HMSA obamacare plan
he's looking over the fee schedule, and what they pay is kinda reasonable
what sticks out to my friend is that after $700 out of pocket expenses for the patient, the insurance company will pick up ALL of the payment after that
so he treats the patients, and when the explanation of benefits comes back to their office, his receptionist comes in and shows it to him
the EOB states that the insurance paid 0, and the patient owes the whole thing
my friend has his receptionist call HMSA to find out what's up
HMSA explains to his staff member that there is a deductible that has to be paid before the insurance kicks in
turns out the deductible is $6350 PER person, PER year
the deductible comes out of medical, dental, drug, vision, and then after the deductible is met, then the insurance begins to pay
AFFORDABLE healthcare act?
i think not

for this, many of our regular health plans are now more expensive and cover less
great job, mr hope and change

That's OK.  Not a problem.  Because if you like your plan you can keep it.  Period.  Lucky I have employer insurance......I think?  That changed too under this act didn't it.  Guess we will all find out the hard way.
It is what it is.

employer insurance plans got more expensive and covered less
the reasoning is they want people to have to use the connector and get ACA health plans so they can call it a "success"

and don't forget that his state of the union address said that he feels like that 2014 is the year that things are going to turn around

Guess they'll be lots of pissed off and broke sheeple out there..

I suspect it was the plan,  the website is broke azz.  Imagine if many many more people signed up all at once and now find out how bad this BS is,  there would be hell to pay!  Too bad people don't want to listen to all the advice that has been harped about this ACA plan.

$6,350.00 deductible....WOW!!  :wtf:

And they are probably paying 400+ a month for medical / dental vision too.

I like my wife's plan:

1.) All routine car taken care of.  For dental, this includes fillings, two cleanings, xrays etc.  All lab work, dr. check up and one physical a year are covered.
2.) First 1500 dollars of visits at the billed rate are covered by the health company 100%.  After 1,500, I have to pay the next $1500 up to 3,000.  After 3,000 the co-pay / co-insurance format kicks in at mostly 80/20 or 90/10.
3.) Most of my prescriptions are on the 25 / 40 / 75 tiered format.

Specialist visits are $50.00.

Here is the real stupidity of all this;

The people that thought private insurance was too expensive, thought that the added expense of a gigantic government bureaucracy to manage healthcare would somehow make it more affordable.

When this falls on it's face [ as it must], these same idiots will begin to clamor for "single payer" health insurance by the government.
The sad thing is they will [ and do] look you straight in the eye, and tell you how much better it will be for everyone to pay HALF of what they earn in taxes in order to obtain healthcare that's even crappier than Obamacare.

Vacuous idiocy is becoming the new normal.

There are many far better watchers of big government than I that are convinced that is what Obunghole and the liberals wanted all along, and this disaster is a somewhat clumsy attempt at collapsing the existing healthcare system.

All leading of course, to government run, socialized healthcare.

One of the holy Grails of the radical left, everyone irrevocably dependent on Big Brother for everything, and therefore, under total control.

Gee, the Hawaii2A Obunghole voters sure are quiet these days...................

A friend of mine just posted an increase from 1100 to 1700 a month; half that month was in december as well.  Stuffs going to get serious.  I'm glad my wife works for UHC so we get crazy cheap insurance (and a really good policy at that).

Most of us now know working Americans will end up paying a lot more to subsidize Obama Care recipients of free or low cost medical care. The IRS will also need to hire thousands of agents and accountants to ensure we pay our so called fair share. We can expect to see more IRS colonoscopies in our future. All of this costs a lot of money. Just today I heard that the non partisan Congressional Budget Office has said that Obama Care will result in fewer Americans working.

Be aware that many companies renewed their 2014 rates early in 2013 (before Obamacare made major impacts on healthcare premiums). Majority of the market that is seeing major rate/deductible hikes is mainly the individual market.

Companies will be negotiating with their respective insurance companies for their 2015 rates this upcoming October (before they begin their respective "open enrollment" periods at the end of the year). Many people are going to see the "real" impact of this law late this year. When the "new" rates come out, expect to see many companies drop healthcare coverage all together, dumping their employees into the public market, and/or huge increases in deductibles and rates for those that keep insurance for their employees.

This is why the White House is trying to push the enrollment period (2015) for companies after the Nov election, political fallout (if majority of the country sees huge rate hikes) would be disastrous for the Dems.

It's a 50/50 on how this will play out, because companies need to have their rates locked in before they can offer their new health care plans to their employees. The White House "telling" companies they don't "have" to have their rates done till after the Nov election is not legally binding. Companies can (and probably will) get their rates locked in on time to ensure their employees have time to select their benefit plans before the end of the year. If the rates/deductibles are made public before the election, expect some political fall out.

Just one quick Google source, many others out there about the enrollment push back and political ramifications for this year...

The Hawaii Health Connector is a private non-profit that received over 200 million from the federal government.  around 60 million to get the website up and running (that still have some glitches) and the balance for "education and advertising."  Then they will receive no additional federal funding (read our tax $$$) after this year and will have to be self-sustaining (read our insurance rates will increase to subsidize their services).  The insurance commission already approved a 2% increase in our (Hawaii) rates to pay for this, in addition to the 5% to 6% hike due to increasing medical costs.

People who voted for the liberals are ignorant and they still do not want to know the truth or deny it.  Where the f*** do they think the money is coming from?
