I don't see it mentioned in the list, either.

I say go for it!  The remediation changes must have improved the rifle range so much that a 50BMG is now safe to fire.

Easier to ask forgiveness than request permission!           :D

I wonder why they don't have a official honolulu.gov website for KHSC?

That is poor advise.

We know that the 50 BMG has not been allowed for some time. It is best to ask first when dealing with firearms. Call and ask. 808-395-2992

Can't hurt.  Could save an embarrassing moment.

If you shoot it, you will most likely get kicked off the range, you might even get banned.     It is not allowed at kokohead.

Heavies, is that official from the RO's?

I would have thought that the improvements would prevent ricochets and striking cats on the other side of Kokohead.

The incident that lead to the banning of .50 BMGs wasn't related to anything that the improvements addressed.

I have seen some variants of the 50BMG cartridge, while not prohibited it is still the responsibility of the shooter. If you have any inkling of a possible ricochet you should not use that cartridge at the now 100 yard only Kokohead range. Like our freedoms we still must maintain a responsibility for them. Your actions will ultimately reflect on the entire community of Oahu's shooters. So think twice about shooting your 20mm ion cannon. If the energy pulse dissipates the entire Kokohead backstop we will all suffer of not having range access permanently.

My friend has shot his .416 Barrett at KHSC before and he never said that the range staff said anything to him. I was a least four benches away and the concussion was still annoying that far away.

50 BMG specifically.  I have seen 510DTC, 416 Barrett, 408 Cheytac, 505 Gibbs in the past. And the usual run of .338 Lapua.

505 Gibbs has been used since the repairs according to one of the RSOs.

.416 Barrett is expensive enough to shoot. I can only imagine 20mm.

The new backstop is doing a really good job at stopping everything I saw shot today. (.416 Barrett was the biggest today)
