Bubba:
….As for "interpreting GODs [sic] word for [you]..." Well, bubba, this just illustrates even more how indoctrinated you are to your own beliefs and how unwilling you are to learn. Here are a few links, readily available in less than a few seconds via Google that easily refutes your biblical "definition" of murder:

If you recall your Sunday School studies, you should also remember that it was Jesus that said if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak to buy one....what use is a sword if not for killing?
As my responses are lengthy I will respond to HiCarry in 3 separate posts.
1- Regarding the need for CCW in Hawaii.
2- Regarding the right to keep and bear arms (CCW specific).
3- Regarding what the bible states about killing.
I will start with #3-
In our previous (unanswered) discussion I had explained that the bible did not allow killing per the sixth commandment, HiCarry had challenged my interpretation as he believes he is withing the biblical definition. After reading through HiCarrys links, they only reinforced my beliefs and is evidence that he did not read or understand them before posting. I sincerely hope that his apparent ignorance (and when I say ignorant I mean the prejorative also as a (lack of understanding) and the subsequent advice he gave on GODs word does not lead any astray.
(Romans 16:17)
17 Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissentions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.
18 For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting
Although I had prepared a rebuttal awhile ago, I was reluctant to post my response as the accurate interpretation of the word of GOD captured in the bible is a touchy subject to say the least. I would not want to unintentionally lead anyone astray through misinterpreting GODs words.
(Jeremiah 23:2)
….Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,
After recent Passover and Easter messages regarding life and that no matter how cold and lifeless others can be, the promise and the possibility of rebirth and renewal is always present. And considering the consequence of not trying to help HiCarry, I have chosen to warn him one final time.
(Ezekiel 3:19)
Yet if thou warn the wicked (the unbeliever), and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way (his way of salvation), he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
I would like to point out that the following is MY opinion regarding what the bible says about killing. I feel that understanding the bible (the laws of GOD) is more important than understanding any man-made law like HRS in regards to use of deadly force even if you feel threatened.
To address the differeing opinion on killing, Let me start with a little about the origins of the bible. The bible was originally captured in the Hebrew language. The bible has been translated many, many, times before reaching its current iterations (i.e. current popular translation) (e.g New King James etc) and the translations can cloud the original word or intended meaning. Therefore, I caution you in putting too much “weight” in certain translations as their meanings have been “diluted” over time, and certain versus and words meaning has been “lost in the translations”.
I encourage you to research for yourself and consider many translations and if needed consider the original Hebrew words that were written in an attempt to understand what the word meant at the time it was written.
Now I feel that especially with a subject as important as “killing or murder” due to the consequences of acting with a poor understand. I must point out the Hebrew words, originally written and their meaning, in order to understand the what GOD has intended. Also understanding each verse in the context it was written.
The Israelites did not have a Hebrew term that precisely fits our present-day definition of murder.
The intent of the sixth commandment was to protect individuals from danger.
The term for Murder in the context used in the Sixth Commandment (Exodus 20:13 & Deut 5:17) and other quoted verses can be easily misunderstood due to the ambiguity in terminology. The meaning of “Rasah” (Hebrew word for killing) had a specialized meaning in connection with “guilt” which was determined either by:
1) the intention of the killer (whether premeditated or accidental) (Num 36:12-14, & Joshua 20:9)
or
2) By the “type of object” used in the apparent manslaughter (Num 35:16-21); iron, stone, or wooden objects were considered likely to cause death.
In addition there are many other verses discussing this topic as follows:
(Exodus 23:7)
Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty.
(Deuteronomy 5:17)
"You shall not murder.
(Numbers 35:12)
They will be places of refuge from the avenger, so that anyone accused of murder may not die before they stand trial before the assembly.
(Numbers 35:16-21)
16But if he struck him down with an iron object, so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death. 17If he struck him down with a stone in the hand, by which he will die, and as a result he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death. 18Or if he struck him with a wooden object in the hand, by which he might die, and as a result he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death. 19'The blood avenger himself shall put the murderer to death; he shall put him to death when he meets him. 20If he pushed him of hatred, or threw something at him lying in wait and as a result he died, 21or if he struck him down with his hand in enmity, and as a result he died, the one who struck him shall surely be put to death, he is a murderer; the blood avenger shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.
(Numbers 36:12-14)
12'The cities shall be to you as a refuge from the avenger, so that the manslayer will not die until he stands before the congregation for trial. 13'The cities which you are to give shall be your six cities of refuge. 14'You shall give three cities across the Jordan and three cities in the land of Canaan; they are to be cities of refuge.…
(Joshua 20:9)
Any of the Israelites or any foreigner residing among them who killed someone accidentally could flee to these designated cities and not be killed by the avenger of blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.
Only GOD has the right to terminate life; killing can be allowed if it is carrying out of GODs will. The only way you can kill someone IAW GODs will would be Killing in a Holy war(blessed by GOD), or executing capital punishment for someone was found guilty of murder (blood avenger), other than doing GODs will, Man does not have the expressed “Right” to kill. Murder deprives God of his property (human life), and a murderer has taken the property of GOD.(Leviticus 17:11-14, Leviticus 24:174:11).
(Genesis 9:5)
And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.
(Genesis 9:6)
"Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.
(Exodus 21:12)
"Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death.
(Leviticus 17:11)
11'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.'
(Leviticus 24:17)
"'Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death.
(2 Samuel 4:11)
11“How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man … shall I not now require his blood from your hand and destroy you from the earth?”
“Rasah” did not cover the subject of killing in war or capital punishment, which were done only at the command of God; thus, they were not in the same category as murder.
(Numbers 31:1)
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Avenge the people of Israel on the Midianites. Afterward you shall be gathered to your people.” So Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian to execute the Lord's vengeance on Midian. You shall send a thousand from each of the tribes ofIsrael to the war.”
(Romans 13:1-14)
… there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. ….if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
(Ephesians 6:10-20)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness…
In biblical times, there were consequenses for killing. The death penalty was imposed for persons who killed with premeditation (as described in the deadly force discussions we had on the other thread where you feel threatened), but not for persons who committed accidental manslaughter ( Exod 21:12-13 ; Lev 24:17 ; Deut 27:24).
If you were guilty of premeditated murder, you did not even require a trial( Exod 21:14 ; Num 35:19 ; Deut 19:11-13 ).
BUT the caveat for the avenger was that in order to kill someone in this situation a
1- a premeditated murder had to be committed first
2- and two witnesses were required to convict the premeditated murderer.
Conviction of a murderer required two witnesses ( Num 35:30 ; Deut 17:6 ; 19:15 ; 1 Sam 21:4 ).
