Getting my first holster
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:39:05 PM »
I decided it was actually time to order a holster. I found Theis Holsters from thehighroad.org and decided to give them a try. His holsters are similar to many other popular IWB holsters but the price was great and he had a lot of positive reviews. Not only that, but he has a sale on blemished holsters for $40 shipped ($45 for horsehide). Since it's an IWB, I don't really care about the blems. I'll get pictures up when I get it.

If anyone is interested in ordering, he probably still has some blems in stock. That, or you can get the regular stock for $50 for cow hide and $60 for horse hide.

After a 10 day wait, I received the holster in the mail. Since it's my first one, I don't really know what to expect from it but it sits nice and the kydex holds the gun in nice and tight.

That looks exactly like a crossbreed holster.

Hmmmm?
You've got some splaining to do.

I wonder if either one of these companies has a copyright on the design or if anyone can just build them like that.
It looks exactly like a crossbreed down to the style of belt clips.

Comfy?

I actually have a crossbreed holster for the Glock 23/19 that I wore for a while when I visited the mainland.

I think the holster is well designed and rugged but I'm a little too "husky" to wear it comfortably.

I have since went over to the Galco royal guard holster when on the mainland.
(since Hawaii has no CCW)

Hey not to hijack this thread but we should all schedule 1 day to line up at HPD and apply for CCW permits.
They would flip out if 50 people were in line for CCW's.

I just wanted to give a quick update on the holster.

Okay, after finally getting around to wearing it and picking up an Uncle Mike's Instructor's Belt, I found that drawing was pretty difficult. I made a call to Tommy Theis who gave me a couple pointers on where to carry the holster and how to draw (my noobness) and said that it would loosen up a little with time. I put the holster in the recommended 4-4:30 position and found the holster very very comfortable to wear and not very intrusive. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Does anyone else have any tips for wearing an IWB?
