better case for carry and stand your ground laws. That is pretty sickening, "mentally unfit" or not the guy deserves more than an all expenses paid vacation. Personally I do not agree with the whole insanity claims of those who commit violent crimes, I don't give a shit if you come across as sane or not. Anyone who actually does have intelligence could come across however they want. 50 years hard labor sounds like a fitting punishment.

Cost to the taxpayers to keep this criminally insane puke in the mental hospital: $50,000+ per year, for the rest of his life.

Cost of a factory .45ACP round: about $0.33. [ Although I'm sure the government gets a discount for bulk.]

There should be a mechanism in place to protect us sane people from crazies. In this case, the victims life was at stake and this guy deserved to be incarcerated for life. His actions should not be overshadowed by some "professional" diagnosis that he is mentally unfit for trial.
Empathy? Not when someone is trying to kill/rape you. There are no excuses whatsoever in cases like this. He has no place in society and is a constant threat to our daily lives. The judge should be held accountable/responsible for this crazy guy.

To make matters worse, this the second time this guy got charges dismissed and was remanded to the State Hospital.

He had the same think happen on a burglary charge and was only in the hospital for 2 weeks before being sent to a group home and running away.

and if it is prohibited and the "shit hits the fan" and if I were him...I would have drawn up some kind of contract stating that if anything happens to me or my family or my workers because of some dumb ass chronic...or what ever criminal it may be, I would hold him or her or whoever else is involved from prohibiting me my 2A right to bear arms and protect my business liable.

That is why the victim in the article is now suing the State Hospital, the State, the shopping center and it's security company (according to the news article in the Honolulu Star Advertiser Thursday Edition section B2)
