I'm glad the old folks and the kid were unhurt, but I'm afraid it was only a matter of time until criminals here started doing daylight home invasion.

Thats the most logical answer, but playing devils advocate and a response more inline with Hawaii, get the guns off the street - Ban them all! Besides the guy was probably just trying to feed his 5-6 kids, he was a good boy, hung around the wrong crowd, or wasn't trying fo hurt nobody...

I've always wondered about the guns used in crimes in Hawaii.  Are they the owner of the gun being used?  Stolen?  Bought illegally?  Curious, since we supposedly have such "good" gun laws including registration and permitting.   ???

The person who started this thread made a CLASSIC ERROR and here it is: "WOMAN ROBBED AT GUNPOINT"  >:(

THE WORD "GUN" WAS NOWHERE IN THE STORY! You saw the word "WEAPON" and thought GUN.

PLEASE REREAD THE ARTICLE !

"He was seen wearing a black billed hat, white shirt and carrying a weapon"

"Elderly couple target of Halawa home invasion, suspect still at large"

That said, it is a classic mistake, and very common. Nevertheless: PLEASE PLEASE GET THE FACTS RIGHT!

I live in that neighborhood and have been at home sick since Monday.  I had no idea why the helo was in the area for so long until I saw the 6pm news.  The helo must have been searching for about two hours.  My friends said the cops searched the canal and everything with no sign of the perp.  I grew up on these streets and this is the first time something like this happened.  Besides my dogs for advance notice, my hd shotty is gonna always be at the ready.

When you look at most of the gun crimes where they actually note if the firearms were "legal" or not, most were illegal....
