Pretty cool a nice alternative to the kel-tec or storm with the known glock reliability.  At least you wont shoot yourself in the leg holstering this one.

They just launched the carbine I posted not too long ago.  Theyve had the sbr for a while now.

I just looked at that Roni converter. It says $454.95 but "Does not include the barrel!"

Whereas, for $359.95, you get the MechTech "Basic Unit" which is the barrel conversion (without rails, etc. which are additional).

Either way, seems like buying a pistol caliber carbine is a better way to go. More reliable anyway.

e.g., CX4 or if not then Hi-Point: http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/carbines/carbines_9mm.html

After the stock goes on, how does one use it as a pistol again?
ATF had said, once a rifle always a rifle.

New ruling in 2011 states a pistol can be converted to a rifle then back to pistol again.
Let me find the ruling and post it.

Heres the ruling from the horses mouth.   ATF ruling 2011-4

http://www.atf.gov/files/regulations-rulings/rulings/atf-rulings/atf-ruling-2011-4.pdf

Prince Law Firm of PA

Today, at the NFATCA Firearm Importer, Exporter and Manufacturer Conference, the BATFE announced that Acting Director Melson issued Ruling 2011-4, regarding whether a pistol can be converted to a rifle and then back to a pistol, without having to register the firearm as a short-barreled rifle. While the Ruling has not yet been published,ATF Deputy Chief Steve Albro stated that the Ruling holds that a pistol may be converted to a Title I rifle (non-SBR) and back to a pistol without having to register the firearm as a Short-Barreled Rifle under the NFA. However, if the firearm starts life as a rifle, the Ruling further holds, that it cannot be converted to a pistol without registering it as a Short-Barreled Rifle under the NFA. As soon as the Ruling is posted, I will update this posting with a copy and any additional holdings.

UPDATE: The BATFE has published 2011-4

The Roni ones were only sbr but mech tech has had these available for a few years already. I looked into getting the 10mm mech tech upper for my g20 as a 10mm compact hunting carbine that uses my glock mags.

Hence, If it left the manufacture as a rifle it will always be a rifle ( title 1 or SBR )

If it left the manufacture as a pistol , it can be converted to a title 1 rifle without NFA registration (if it has a 16' barrel) and returned to a pistol.

I recall reading on the MecTechSys website, it actually has an FAQ on this and says it is fine to convert back and forth.

I believe that is true.
