I was there, two benches to the right of that yoyo.  It was obnoxious, so I just left.

(The blast was shaking the reticle of my scope. And just as my hold was settling --I shoot offhand-- Ka-Blam! F-that-shiite. I ended up stepping back from the line til he was done, then try to get quick string in.)

As a side comment, my kid wanted to shoot with me too... Woke up asking if he could join me and use his rifle. He's just starting to move in to rimfire from air rifle so I took him down with a box of 22Shorts... But that blast would really rattle him, so he asked if we could go home. I'm just hoping he wants to go back and shoot again one day. Karl offered to give us back our range fee, but I told him to just apply it to their sodas and water fund.

I wish someone would set up a dedicated rimfire range, or specific (early morning?) rimfire hours so the folks who can shoot (and by "shoot" I mean actually hit the small ground targets and silhouettes figures vs "point and make noise") can shoot without the distraction of frustrated revolver/pistol folks slinking over from the pistol range, and trying to hit the steel barn door and dinner plates at Silly Side. Y'all know who you are.

Hee hee hee. ;-)

The ratio of "BOOM" to "tink" is pretty poor.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

At the rifle side was some excitement today!

At 330 had the normal cease fire 3 hikers decided to cross about the 200 yard line.  They announced to them to get out of the way but they kept on trucking up over the silhouette side!  Once they got over the hill Mike M called the range hot and we had 7 minutes left in the session.

Hikers crossing a live fire zone? I'm hoping HPD was called, and they showed up to "escort" these bozo's off the range. Mike then has the option to trespass them and keep them out.
[ Edit]
I'll definitely be bringing this up at the HKNB meeting. These idiots could've walked out there when the range was hot and gotten killed.

i was telling dex that they had to have been hiking down the mountain during live fire, so there's no way they didn't know it was a range

Not to mention that there are signs posted clearly stating this fact and advising their dumb butts to keep out.  >:( :grrr: :wtf:

If they would've gotten shot at (from a Vietnam style ricochet) - you know the shooter would be to blame not the fact that the trail is illegal and signs are posted warning them of a live fire range. Cries of they were a "good people", "they only wanted to take pictures of butterflies" would be blasted all over the media and firearms owners would be painted as evildoers.

Maybe they couldn't read english? I mean we have people take our driver's license tests in other languages despite the fact that our street signs are in english  ::)

It would have to be neon green/red because if someone hiked on that illegal trail and got cut, they would sue because they didn't see it.

maybe they think it's like on the ocean where sailboats always have the right of way, so they go across the path of a tanker

or they were just foreigners that cannot read signs and thought it was a really loud golf course

 :wtf:

I guess the sound of gun fire attracts dumb hiker LOL..

Range official told them to clear the range but they trucked on over the next hill.

I hope HPD found these dummies.

Natural selection failed today DAM!
