HiCarry

Update:

I received a PM from him on 5/17 saying he just got back into town. I have been out of town as well and just got back yesterday, so I didn't have a chance to respond to him. I won't post his PM as I don't have his permission to do so, but essentially he said he'd be willing to "educate" me with his techniques, but only in private. My response to him is copied below. We'll see what happens:

I apologize for the delay in responding, I was out of town on business.

With all due respect, I doubt your goal was to educate me. Rather, IMHO, it was an effort to push your agenda regarding what many see as an overly restrictive requirements for a concealed carry permit. Furthermore, I suspect that those you accuse of only being interested in "swing conflict" are actually pretty reasonable people that happen to disagree with your position and would like to see you substantiate your various claims made in supporting your position. And, with that in mind, any such "private setting" for this demonstration of your "techniques" to further substantiate your claims would lead to yet more disagreement and opportunity for further discord on the forums relevant to this topic. If education is your goal, and you wish to silence those "dumb asses" who disagree with you, some form of recording the session would seem ideal to make sure the events of that education are not falsely represented by either you or I. And, could be used by others if indeed you end up being correct.

Your objection to any attempt to memorialize this education you wish to share, because it  would only result in injury seems antithetical to your current position that more advanced training should be required for any CCP. Essentially you're saying we shouldn't spar, even with the protective equipment I believe you volunteered for this purpose, because of the risk of injury, yet we should require this level of training for potential CCP applicants regardless of the risk of injury to them? What about someone with a back injury who applies for a CCP? Should they be denied because they cannot participate in the level of training you deem minimal?

The bottom line is that I am more than happy to participate in some event with you in an attempt to demonstrate your disarming/weapons retention "education" but in light of the very public manner in which you made your position known, and issued your challenge, I believe it only fair that it be recorded in some manner or open to the members of the forum which generated this situation. I personally don't have the time or inclination to do that recording, but those participating in the discussion seemed ready to do so and should, IMHO, be afforded the opportunity if that is what the group consensus is.

Regards,

Lifer
