If there was new legislation passed that said that you could only own one single firearm in one caliber, which one would you choose.

Just one firearm.
For home defense
For self defense
For hunting
For the range
For everything

I would choose a Remington 870 in 12 gauge. With slugs, buck and bird shot I could accomplish most of what I need to do with a firearm.

My one firearm to do everything would be an ak-47 (Converted Saiga). Reliable and flexible and good for everything within 300 yards.

If I had to make the choice right now as I sit in front of the computer, it would be my AR. Just the most familiar with it. If I had some time to acquire some resources.....I would get a Lahti L39 20mm rifle. Just because I'd be pissed off and want to be obnoxious.

AR15/M16A2 in 5.56mm/.223 Rem. I've been using this platform for more that 30 years. I use and master what I'm issued on the job.

I would choose a 870 because it's versatile.

Has anyone changed their mind about what they would choose or does your answer remain the same?

Colt Python 6" barrel in Royal Blue finish.  Because:

1) It's impractical, but the dude from Walking Dead has clearly shown you can survive in a zombie apocalypse with it.
2) You're enemies will drool all over their own firearms, thus disabling them.
3) You can use it as a cudgel when you run out of bullets.
4) Just cuz.
5) It's sorta black, which makes it all ninja tactical and far more deadly.
6) It makes a loud bang which, like Biden's shotgun, will scare away any criminal.

The military knew decades ago only one cartridge was close to a one size fits all.  First it was the 30-06, now the 7.62.  For flexibility and firepower, that means an AR10/LR308, or a M1A which is not so great indoors for home defense.

But, I suspect most of us would ignore any law stupid enough to try and limit us to one firearm, and have something else stashed away.......1911, 870,,,,,,,,,,
