Guys, check out the Garden Island Newspaper website for today. In the letters to the editor section a gentlemen slams Sport's Authority for selling 'military style assault' weapons on Kauai. Of all the places this island is full of anti everything ding dongs. If you have the inclination write in a favorable response for SA selling of any type of firearms in their store period.

That's easy to answer.  If nobody buys the scary black military-style rifles, SA will probably make the decision to stop carrying them on their own.  Why stock expensive items no one is buying?

However, several commenters feel the need to boycott SA until the guns are removed.  Why do some people feel they have to impose their opinions and ideas on everybody else?  I mean, if the don't like it, just don't shop there.  But, to post in public for others to do that too is ignorant.  Let others make up their own minds. 

Again, if the rifles sell, there's your answer!  In that case, Kauai DOES WANT this in their community.  If they do not sell, then the answer is No.

Some days it's like we are being reminded, no matter how bad it gets, it can always be worse!

You should watch the South Park episode Butters goes native - hits the nail on the head.  They satirized the loss of the super ferry and that whole liberal "what's good for me is good for you" transplant attitude pretty accurately.

These are probably the same people who complained about the super ferry bringing invasive species to Kauai. It is they who are the invasive species.

I predict at the prices they are selling them for, the people will vote with their dollars. And they will sell on Kauai.  When I looked last they had Adams Arms for $1299 and Stags for $799 if I recall. Also they had Springfield pistols and some SigSauers. It was really crowded so didn't get a chance to look at the other stuff. It's a good thing grabagun beats all their prices and has better selection and my FFL is cool with doing $25 transfers for me all day long.

There are nearly 200 million privately owned firearms in the U.S. alone and current estimates show that 40% of households have a gun. About 30,000 people in the United States die each year from firearm-related deaths. 30,000! Nearly 8 children and teenagers are killed with guns in the United States EACH DAY! The presence of a gun in the home triples the risk of homicide in the home and increases the risk of suicide fivefold.
In a recent year firearms were used to murder 56 people in Australia, 184 people in Canada, 73 people in England and Wales, 5 people in New Zealand and 37 people in Sweden. All these countries have strict gun control laws. In comparison, firearms were used to murder 11,344 people in the United States.
And you sit there and try to tell me that MORE guns in the hands of citizens will result in LESS crime? Are you really that naive?

We easily lose 3 to 4 times as many people each year to traffic accidents - we should ban cars!  Yes, let's ban cars because obviously NO ONE CAN BE TRUSTED TO DRIVE SAFELY enough so no one dies.  We'll all ride bikes, yes, that's the answer. 

Hell, I guess alcohol and tobacco products should be banned and taken off the market.  After all it is for the common good.

I wrote in and when I clicked submit the Garden Island said I need to remove any profanity or objectionable/offensive content. I have been known to use an S-word or F-word now and then but none were used in my letter. This leads me to believe my support of gun ownership and the sales of firearms by SA was deemed objectionable or offensive content.
