Assembled my first lower. A few questions.
« on: June 01, 2011, 08:43:22 PM »
Alright, so I picked up a few Surplus Ammo and Arms lowers and just assembled my first one using a Del-ton Inc. lower parts kit and had a few questions.

Is the hammer supposed to ride the bolt catch?

Anyone have any problems with the disconnector disconnecting after a trigger release? I'm working with just the assembled lower using the following procedure. Cock hammer, pull trigger, keep pulled, cock hammer, release trigger. As far as I can tell, the disconnector is supposed to disengage from the hammer at this point. Early on, it wouldn't at all without fiddling with the hammer. As I've played around with it, it seems to be starting to disengage. Does that seem normal?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Forgot to put in the disconnector spring in and the trigger acted wierd. Also read of people putting the disconnector spring in upside down or using the wrong spring.

I saw a lot of people posting about putting the disconnector springs upside down. After reading all those posts, I was sure to put it in correctly. I think the problems are working themselves out with more use. At one point I was able to get it not to reset by letting the trigger go verrrrrrry slowly, but now it seems to reset every time.

Does anyone know about the hammer resting against the bolt catch though?

Thanks for the link ren. I did use arfcom as a guide but used on here: http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/
Your link has more goodies in it though :)
