Looks like this bill got stuck in committee, but perhaps a "flood" of emails to our U.S. Reps in Washington would remind them that at least some of their constituents in Hawaii support our Constitutionally-protected right to self-defense outside our homes.

Clicking on the red text headers allow you to send any of two emails and/or one petition. All you'd have to write in the one unfilled "message" box for the reciprocity bill would be "Please support H.R. 2959."

Here's what I wrote to my representative, Tulsi Gabbard:

"Please co-sponsor H.R. 2959.

Perhaps some day Hawaii will actually abide by the Constitution as per the MacDonald and Peruta decisions and allow citizens the possibility of defending themselves outside their homes.

Maybe you could even do something to try and keep your oath of office and uphold the Constitution instead of sending emails with lies about the efficacy of, and need for more, "gun control" legislation."

It is possible that we may be twiddling our thumbs here for YEARS before Peruta is finalized, and then that may not be in our favor. At least let these politicians know that we are still out here. Or not.

Actually I agree with you... I don't think there is even the proverbial snowball's chance in hell of them changing their votes. The Hawaii U.S. Reps that will be voting on this bill, if it ever gets out of committee, are Gabbard and Hanabusa. Pretty sure we know how they will vote as they have demonstrated themselves to be traitors non-supporters of the Second Amendment on numerous occasions. I was thinking it possible that if they got a number of emails on this bill asking for support (how many anti-gun people are going to send them emails telling them to vote against it?) that maybe they'd think for at least a couple of seconds about gun rights supporters in their state. But most likely the staff sees the emails and thinks, or maybe says out loud, "More emails from the gun nuts! Hahahahahahaha!"

I guess I just want them to know that people are watching what they are doing, and at least some of us are not happy at all with their positions. Not like that would make any difference. I'm sure they couldn't care less what people think, except to the extent that it will allow them to get re-elected. Or am I being too cynical and Ms. Gabbard really believes that bringing all her military experience with firearms to bear on these issues has made the studied and informed conclusion that banning "high capacity clips" (her words) and "assault weapons" (her words again... without any definition) will really contribute to solving the problem of criminal use of firearms?
