Kamaainas, any difference in paperwork for Long Gun Permit renewal before expiry? Or renew any time after expiration?

(Putting aside the time frame that you cannot acquire without the permit).

You can't renew more than 2 weeks before the expiration date.

Also, HPD requests you bring the old permit when renewing regardless of whether the expiration date is approaching or already in the past.

If you renew before expiration, be sure to get the old permit from HPD in case you need it for a transfer before the 2-week wait is done.

If I recall correctly, paperwork is exactly the same regardless of when you renew.  First time, second time, two weeks early, two years after...still the same.
